Clicking noise inside of Phaser 7750DN, Possible Black Toner Dispenser?

Hi There, I have recently purchased this pre-loved printer and it has just started making a clicking noise during warm-up and when printing. The fuser is due for replacement soon, however is has 3% life remaining and the noise is not a grinding sound........it is a destinctive 'click' from the centre of the machine (pretty much where the black toner sits). - I have run a Dispenser Motor Test from Service Diags and each colour's motor sounds OK, except for the black one. The machine makes the same noise on that particular test run, so does that indicate that the Black Dispenser Motor is faulty/dying? Is it something that needs urgent replacement and if so, am I able to fix it myself and for what cost (roughly)? - Or is it something else in the same area? Many thanks!

Also, no problems with printing.......all prints are coming out clean and perfect.

Xerox Phaser 7750DN 'Clicking' Noise - I have recently purchased this pre-loved printer and it has just started making a clicking noise during warm-up and when printing. The fuser is at 3% remaining life (yes, it's up for replacement soon), however there is NO grinding noise.......There is a distinctive clicking noise coming form the centre of the machine (pretty much where the black toner is located!).

At one point, the front panel instantly flashed up that the black toner was empty and need to be replaced. I took out the toner only to find it about 3/4 full.......gave it a shake and popped it back in. The printer continued printing and then after printing, the toner level on the front panel for the Black (K) showed a "?"

So, I ran a Dispenser Motor Test from Service Diags and each colour's motor sounds OK, except for the black one. The machine makes the same noise on that particular test run, so does that indicate that the Black Dispenser Motor is faulty/dying? Is it something that needs urgent replacement and if so, am I able to fix it myself and for what cost (roughly)?

    Or is there another issue?

    Many thanks!

Hi tracey_wyatt,

There's a possibility that the fan is faulty or dying out. You might find this video from you tube helpful in determining the problem and you will be able to determine where the clicking noise is coming from.

Hope this helps.

I have xerox phaser 7750 by mistake i bought 7760 yellow toner shall install it to 7750

Not yet, check with the supplier and ask if it is compatible with the 7750, if not then exchange the 7760 for a 7750 yellow toner cartridge. Once you open the cartridge the supplier will not exchange.

I suspect you have lumpy toner in the black cartridge and it will not turn properly. The sound is probably the impeller hitting hardended toner. Try another black toner but give it a good shake before you fit it and DONT empty the drum as you will lose the developer within it.

Hope that cures it. good luck

How do you reset toner counter on phaser 7750? Thanks

On the back of the 7750 toner there is a metal piece you can push in near the end that goes in to the machine first, this will tell the printer that the toner you put in has not been installed until now. I would not suggest doing this unless the toner is full and is using geniune xerox 7750 toner.. If you refill it with generic or non-7750 toner it can damage the machine and will void any warrenty you may have left on the machine.
If you switch machines with the 7750 toner the machine will not know how much toner is remaining in that toner. Xerox changed this method on the 7760 to use a toner chip to fix this.
Hope this helps, thanks

Xerox Phaser 7750

There is a motor in the laser called the polyogon motor, It turns the mirrors in the laser.
It most likely is not starting fast enough. The laser isnt that hard to remove. But if it has failed, it is pretty expensive.
Let me know if you want to attempt to pull it.

Error states replace toner cartridge...

1. The toner is blocked or clumped in the dispense tubes. - Carefully remove the dispense tubes of the toner dispense system and check for a blockage in the dispense tubes. 2. The toner cartridge is not opening or augering correctly and the toner is not flowing into the dispense system. - First check the affected color(s) for toner availability, make sure that the dispense system is not being starved for toner due to a defective toner cartridge. Replace if found to be defective.

Xerox Phaser 7750 code 35

Somehow you jarred the fuser. Turn the machine off and reseat the fuser. Open the left side door, there will be 2 thumb screws.
Remove and reseat the fuser, if that doesnt work you have to replace the fuser.

Phaser 7750DN

That noise is one of the rollers on the lower pinch rolls contacting the plastic frame or the door, unfer the 2nd BTR assembly.. It may not even be there when the machine isnt fully warmed up. There is a spacer kit you can install to create a gap between the roller and cover.
It could also be the clutches for duplex.
Not sure what to tell you with the bottle. Normally that is very accurate. The yellow toner is more likely comming from the yellow toner hopper. There is a fairly thin soft rubber cover over the auger that can slip off easily and leak on any of those toners. I would suspect that before the bottle detection. Full bottle detection is pretty finicky.
