After installing windows 7 my cd drive doesn't work. I've tried new drivers and disabling it and everything else I can think of... can anyone help?

Hello,

Are you sure that you have installed the correct driver? Try going to the website of your computer's manufacturer and get the driver from there.

Hi everyone, I was installing windows xp sp3 on my compaq desktop computer through my hard drive because my computer doesn't recognise cd roms, So I can't install through cd drives. It installed to...

Hi
Have you tried to go into your cmos settings and enable the settings to detect your cd rom
You should be able to use a external cd rom connected through your USB port to load and re-install windows and your drivers if you have the motherboard cd.
The problem is your limited in your options to work from the hard drive but a disk also gives you the option to repair the filing system and replace missing files.

The problem with installing windows on one pc and it not working on another pc is the motherboards are not compatible, and the configuration has to be similar or the same so the hard drive can boot up and communicate between the hardware and software.

Your options are use a CD rom, change your MB or google your problem and hope someone else was able to resolve this issue.

Cheers

I'm trying to burn a music CD on my new HP computer and can't get the source disk to download to my hard drive. I'm an old dude and did print out the HP instruction sheet-still confused.

Hello rhughes612,

You may try burn by CD to CD burn but if you want to select files that you want to burn, you have to ripped the music from the Music CD by using Window Media Player 10 or higher. Or try using software that ripped music from CD.

This is the instruction of CD to CD:

1. Insert the source disk
2. Then hit burn or copy to CD on your HP CD & DVD burner software or application.
Then it will be temporarily copied to the hard drive.
3. after it finishes copying the source disk, you will be ask to insert a blank CD then hit continue or OK

Please reply or respond if this doesn't work so that I could provide you another solution and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

I would like to install windows xp on the hp hdx9150. But Sata disks are not recognised. So i find a driver for that, i can give to the systeme with touh F6 , wind cd-rom windows xp bigin to install

Hi,

According to your problem first check the hard drive status and make sure that it is ok. If it doesn't detect in bios setup then you can change the cable of the hard drive. Also make sure that the DVD Rom working fine. If the hard drive doesn't detect while you begin setup then clear the bios first. Then reset the bios properly. You may need a firmware update also. If you can not continue the setup then break the partition of the hard drive. You can use partition break up software, like partition magic etc also. If it doesn't solve your problem then you may need to replace the hard drive. To check the hard drive status you can try with another OS installation. Best of luck.

Im trying to scan a document but its saying error code 2106. i have it hooked up through wireless

Try these things:

1. place a doc to scan in the scanner. Close the lid and hit MENU, COPY document, START.

If that doesn't work you'll need to contact kodak. If it does then try this next:

2. Check for ADMINISTRATOR rights.

  1. RIGHT CLICK on the kodak icon and select Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this program as an administrator
  2. Select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
  3. click APPLY
  4. click OK
Then try scanning again. If it still doesn't work then-

Reload the driver:

  1. select Start > Run.
  2. Type %windir%, then click OK.
  3. Double-click twain_32.
  4. Right-click Kodak, then select Delete.
  5. Insert the KODAK All-in-One Printer Software CD into the appropriate drive, then go to (cd drive: > printer > scanner.
Double-click aioscannr.msi, then follow the instructions to remove it
  6. Then go to cd drive: > printer > scanner, then double-click aioscannr.msi, and follow the instructions to install the file.
  7. Open Home Center Software
  8. Select Scan Documents and Pictures.
  9. Scan a document
If it still doesn't work then you'll need to take it in for service.

I have installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit in my dell vostro 1015 ,now i want to change my windows so is it possible that i install windows xp in my dell vostro 1015

Yes it is! You're going to need a Windows XP install CD and a serial key. Once you have those, we can start. Put the Windows XP Install CD in your computer, and reboot. Press F8 when the computer comes up to get into the boot menu. If F8 doesn't work, try F2, ESC and Enter. Select the CD/DVD drive from the list, and when you see the prompt to push any key, push any key. The files will load, then you'll see a Welcome to Windows screen - press enter. The next screen will show your hard drive. You're going to have to format it here, so you will lose all your files. Backup any files you need before you do this. Highlight the biggest sized partition, and press D, then follow the prompts. Now press C over the unallocated space, and choose quick format. Then press enter. Agree to the EULA by pressing F8 Windows will now begin installing. Follow the onscreen instructions and you'll be just fine. Alex

I have a note that says, " no bootable device found, please insert bootable disk then press any key",

The laptop cannot find the boot hard drive, it may be faulty or just need reseating to make proper electrical connection.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If this does not work then reboot and go to theBIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn'tdetect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Next - to determine if thehard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

The CD drive is jammed, and this wonderful piece of junk doesn't have a pinhole. So, i've got it open, all over the floor, and can't find instructions anywhere on how to get the CD drive...

It has to have the pin hole safety. It is required by IEEE standards. make sure you check the entire face of the CD drive for it. It can be mistaken for light or appear along the tray's edge (making it really hard to see), but I promise it has to be there.

Hi I have purchased Grandma and Me for my four-year old nephew but I can't get it to run. I installed it and I got a message saying that the product had installed successfully. When I click on the...

Several older Living Books wouldn't run in XP until right clicked and changed properties to force it to run in 640x480 and in 256 colors. I am getting the 'missing book outline file' when I try to copy and play the contents of Cat in the Hat cd to hard drive. My daughter has trouble changing out the CDs herself, so the ones that cannot be installed directly to and run from hard drive, instead of CD will not be used by her nearly as much because she won't ask for help, she'll try icon and if it doesn't work, will just move on to some other game. The Cat in the Hat will install a launcher and run from CD fine, it just prevents full install and run from hard drive with that 'missing book outline file' which seems as though it may be intended to prevent install and run from hard drive rather than cd. I have not yet found solution for that. I was able to install Grandma, Harry & Haunted House, Little Monster and Arthur's Pet Chase to hard drive of XP machine. On one or two of them, before I could get it to run from hard drive, I had to edit the .ini or config files and change the location from d:\ to c:\program files\livingbooks\...folder where .exe resides on hard drive. My 2 cents. Hope that helps someone else.

I have tried everything Ctrl F11, Ctrl F9, Ctrl F8 and nothing allows me to reset the harddrive

Im not sure that you understood the concept of resetting the hdd...this can be done only by formatting ...and from the windows you can not format but the partitions(drives) that not contain the windows installation ...to be able to format all partitions you have to use a installation cd with the operation system ( a boot-able one ) ..and boot from cd ...by selecting this operation from Bios settings ...and go along with the clean installation not from the recovery partition or cd ...
after you get along with the clean installation and formatted the hdd and remake the partitions ...and finished the installation of the operating system ...than you can use the recovery cd to install the drivers and the factory settings and programs .....
another easy way to do that ..is to hook it on another computer ...and just format it from windows...this will erase it clean ..and you will have to reinstall the OS after that ...
