Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an HP DV6000 and I can not get the keypad or the buttons to work. I have checked all the cables and they seem to be tightly connected. I loaded the software and drivers, but nothing.

Thanks very much. I tried that already and it did not work. The laptop just happens to be out of warranty.

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Would like to verify when you mean you check all the cables, Did you open the case of the laptop? Loading drivers and software will not fix the issue because the keyboard will works even if there is no Operating System installed on it. You can try to do a power drain by removing the battery for 3-5 minutes and after that put it back on. The process will drain all the power in the motherboard. If this won't fix the issue it only means that this is a hardware failure. You need to replace it or if the laptop still have a warranty with HP then you can ask them to replace it for you free of charge.
Thanks for using Fixya.

How to Disassemble an HP Pavilion DV6000

The HP Pavilion DV6000 is one in a popular line of consumer-oriented laptops produced by HP. Relatively inexpensive, the Pavilion DV6000 is a good all-around value for most users. Taking apart an HP Pavilion DV6000 is not an easy chore and if you plan to use the laptop again, it is important you know what you are doing or you have a large appetite for risk. If the above doesn’t describe you, consider taking the HP in for professional repair or upgrade. Otherwise, follow the steps below to disassemble the HP Pavilion DV6000.
18385245_1.jpg?w=200 1、Prepare a clear workstation. Turn off the laptop and remove all power components including the cord and the battery. (Turn the laptop over and you will find the tab to push and pop out the dv6000 battery.) Also remove any peripheral attachments like card readers and USB devices.
90-04208-003_original-hp-pavilion-dv8000z.jpg?w=250 2、Turn the HP Pavilion dv6000 upside down and unscrew all the screws you find. Try to keep them separate by size so you can put them back in the same spot when and if you decide to reassemble the laptop.
3、Remove the hard drive and memory modules by pulling up on the rectangular compartments. The memory is located in the central compartment (remove by spreading latches and pulling up), and in most HP models the hard drive is located to one side.
4、Remove the optical CD/DVD drive by pulling on the drive face to the left and out of the laptop. Remove the WiFi card by disconnecting the gold connectors on the antenna and pulling the card from its slot.
5、Turn the hp dv6000 back over and remove the keyboard and power panel/media touch pad. Carefully pry the power panel up with a piece of hard plastic near the power button on the left side. Be careful when pulling not to yank the power connection as you might accidentally rip out a wire. Pull back the keyboard to reveal the connections. Disconnect the connections by carefully pulling on the tabs with your thumb and forefinger. If they are tight, wiggle them back and forth while pulling on them to loosen them.
6、Remove the screws that were underneath the power pack/media touch pad. Carefully pry up the top casing and set it aside.
7、Detach all visible connections to the motherboard by pulling gently on them, wiggling them if they are stuck. Gently pull up from the right side of the motherboard and remove. The HP laptop is now fully disassembled.

2006 saturn ion door locks and trunk pop wont work....

The remote won't ework because the problem is in the vehicle. Just for test purposes and possible remedy. Remove and clean the negative battery cable. Ensure a clean , tight connection. Then find the body ground. Yhis ground is locted usually at the top rear of the engine. .I's a snall stainless steel strap bolted to the engine and fire wall, This must olsobe clean with a good contack. Might as well clean the + cable and connection on the battery while you are there. Good luck and keep me posted olease. Good Luck, Ned_

Computer Does Not Detect Headset Microphone

Sound and Recording jacks stop working on the DV6000 series due to the ribbon cable running under the power button. when the power button is pushed it bends the flex cable and over time it breaks the connection rendering the front jacks useless you can buy a new upper button panel for about 20 dollars on ebay

Pavilion dv6000 when power button is pressed,

Have you tried to boot the laptop with the power cable connected? Is the charging indicator on when you connect it to the adapter? If the charging indicator does not light up, check if your adapter output and try booting it with the power cable connected.
