Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Hi, i have a Denon PMA 735 R amplifier which shuts down when volume increases suddenly.

Sounds like you have output transistor problems. Does it have a red protection light that comes on when it shuts down? If it does it will need serviced.

L 700 no sound

Hmm, this could be multiple things. First thing first, here is the official manual:

http://www.nodevice.com/user_manual/download_354577.html

On page 20 in the manual, it suggests that it might be in silence mode, so to toggle between the two, in Idle Mode, press and hold down the [#] key. If that doesn't work, than try increasing your ringtone's volume, in Idle Mode, push the volume key up to increase the volume.

If there isn't anything else in the manual, you can always contact Samsung at:

http://www.samsung.com/sg/info/contactus.html

Hope this helps!

My fr 996 shuts down when the volume is increased can you suggest anything which be causing this?

There are a number of potential causes for this. Among them could be defective coupling capacitors between the pre-amp stage and the final stage. This would allow DC voltage to pas through to the final stage where the protection circuits would detect it and shut the unit down. Without taking internal measurements, it is impossible to determine the problem with this unit. I would suggest that you get a detailed repair estimate, report the results here and we should be able to walk you through the actual repair.

MY YAMAHA RECIEVER KEEPS SHUTTING OFF

The unit is going into protection mode. The message is a generic one and usually means that the output section is drawing too much current and has been shut down. Defective speakers can cause this, but in this case, I suspect that there is a problem in the front end that is allowing DC current to pass to the output circuits. This will cause a problem that will shutdown the system. Yamaha designs are not the most straightforward nad I would not suggest you attempt this repair without prior repair experience. Take this to a service center and request a detailed repair estimate and report the results here. Armed with that info, we canguide you further.

yes direct into the buttons the WD40 is the best thing i've ever seen, that will not damage anything you can spray it without fear and then try to activate the buttons a few times, of course with the tv off.

Onkyo ts595 goes into protect mode with volume increase

HI check your speaker cables are not touching, also make sure "b" speakers are not on and that all your speakers are 4ohm or higher as this will cause the amp to shut down if they are to low an impedeance,The amp is protecting itself when it shuts down.

hope this helps.

Fujitsu 42" Plasma Display shuts off after 20 minutes

This is most likely caused by the Main Power pcb.

See Fujitsu Service Bulletin on this problem in a similar model from Fujitsu. -see link below
http://tomtom2k5.free.fr/fujitsu/PDP-0035-06.pdf

A competent service technician should be able to implement the service bulletin.
A similar service bulletin is probably available for your model. Request bulletin from Fujitsu 'service@fujitsugeneral.com'
