I have a poulan pro700 Mod# PB22H54 BF S# 042109BOO1971 The two Bolts in the front of the Transmission stripped out . The front of the transmission dropped and broke the front holes draw bar plate. Removed draw bar plate and replaced with a new one . Taped holes to next size and reassembled rear of tractor.What i need help with now. When i press forward drive pedal unit backs up and when i press the reverse pedal unit goes forward. I checked belt and pulleys and belt routing .they are all good . Can you make a suggestion that will help.Thanks for your trouble Ed Williams

    Tried Your idea and Damaged new Belt, Rubbing together where they crossed Worked for a minute. The way it was routed before trying your way is the way the manual shows to route belt. It must have another problem . Thanks

Hi,
Recheck the belt routing...
The belt to the main drive pulley from the motor is running the pulley in the wrong direction...twist the belt so that it runs the pulley in the opposite direction and your good to go!!

    Yes, you need to spin that drive pulley the other way and get the tranny working the right direction...

    Hmmmm... wish I could get my hands on that....seems like there is something else happening there.....thought for sure that a twist would solve it...is there any other way to run that pulleys the right way???

Most of the shift solenoids are located under the "side" pan of the transmission, not the underside transmission pan. The side pan is difficult to access and might best be handled by someone who has removed this type of cover before.

How to take transmission out


It is a pretty involving process to remove and replace the transmission on a Honda Odyssey and not recommended for the home DIY mechanic. Without a vehicle hoist or lift, it is a daunting task to undertake. This will be a brief description of what may need to be removed. The engine and transmission sits on a sub frame cradle. The engine will need to be held and supported by an engine support bar. The sub frame is then unbolted from the bottom. All things necessary must be removed before the sub frame can come out. For example, the rack and pinion bolts, sway bar, lower front ball joints, front and rear engine mounts, and any and all brackets and hard lines. After the sub frame is completely out, the flywheel bolts will have to be removed from the transmission. The cv-axles will have to be removed along with the transmission fluids being drained. Then the harness/connectors disconnected from the transmission, and then the bolts to the engine and bolts for the transmission mount. With a floorjack, the transmission can then be dropped out from underneath. Installation is the reversal.

is it an automatic? if so mount torque converter onto flywheel use transmission guide pins match the torque converter slot to transmission slots for front pump slide transmission up to motor. bolt up. install drive shaft linkage cooler lines censers ect. it bolts go through fly wheel into torque converter instead of studs on it install torque converter into transmission first make sure you line up front pump lugs you can break then when you tighten the bolts to motor. a manual is simpler just make sure clutch is lined up center .

Transmissiom fluid leak


The 2 most common places to investigate a transmission fluid leak are:
  1. Transmission lines
  2. Transmission gasket on the transmission pan
If possible, get under the car with a flashlight and inspect the transmission lines as they leave the transmission. Look for moist points usually around the fittings themselves. On the gasket, look for seepage which will occur most commonly around the bolts holding the pan up. They are a common trouble spot. If you see seepage you can sometimes stop it by tightening the bolt. Be careful not to overtighten any bolt for risk of breaking or stripping it.

How do I change transmition filter


Start the engine and let it idle for four minutes. This will help to remove as much loose particles from the transmission as possible Turn off the engine. Raise the front of the vehicle using a floor jack, and support the vehicle with two jack stands Apply the emergency brakes and block the rear wheels with two wooden blocks .Place a large drain pan underneath the transmission pan. Loosen the front and side mounting bolts from the transmission pan using a crisscross pattern. Then remove the bolts. Use a ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.Loosen the rear mounting bolts from the transmission pan about 4 turns each. Pry the transmission pan open at the front using a screwdriver and let the oil drain onto the drain pan. Hold the transmission pan from underneath, using a shop rag as you remove the remaining pan mounting bolts. Separate the transmission pan from the transmission, and tilt it over the drain pan to remove the remaining oil. Discard the transmission pan gasket. This is were the filter will be located remove and replace filter and then. Clean the transmission pan with spray carburetor cleaner and a shop rag.Install a new gasket over the transmission pan flange Set the transmission pan in place and start the pan mounting bolts by hand. Start tightening the transmission pan bolts in a crisscross pattern, a little at a time, until all the bolts are tight. Use the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket. Just tighten the bolts enough to create a seal between the pan and the transmission to avoid damaging the pan gasket.

How to remove transmission fluid pan.


first off drain the fluid out of the transmission pan. I always remove the return hose(which is driver side on rad base) and put into a container. Put e-brake on start vehicle and put into drive, this will drain fluid out of transmission. When fluid stops flowing, re-attach return line to rad, put transmission back into park, shut off engine. Remove drain plug from bottom of transmission pan to drain remaining fluid. You will have to disconnect the front axle drive shaft to remove transmision pan. There are 4 bolts attached to flange at front of axle. Remove these bolts and nuts only and move shaft out of the way. Mark placement of at least 1 bolt on flange. If the bolt placement is not correct you will have vibration when 4 wheel drive is engaged. (Grease the bolts when putting back together.) Remove transmision dip stick from holder. There are 2, 10 or 12 mm bolts that hold the dip stick holder in place. These are 1/2 way down the holder and are attached to engine. You can reach these from top or bottom of vehicle. Replace at least 1 bolt when you put back together. If not the holder will vibrate against engine and will be annoying.
There are 10mm bolts holding the pan in place, remove all but one. When ready ensure there is enough clearance to allow the transmission pan and holder to be removed. Remove last bolt, as the pan drops, you will have to keep the pan level. Basically hold the pan and pull it down in a way that removes the dipstick holder. Since you have the pan off replace the fluid filter and clean plate filter is attached to. Also clean off magnets in transmission pan. The magnets are what picks up any metal pieces. Leave magnets in pan. When putting pan back on replace gasket if required and tighten bolts in offsetting pattern to allow for even seal. I believe it is only 14lbs torque required for the bolts. Do not over tighten as these will strip easily.

How to remove a transmission for a 2002 GMC Yukon


Removal & Installation 4L60E/4L65E To Remove:
  1. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Transmission fluid
    • Transmission oil level indicator tube and seal from the transmission
    • Plug the oil level indicator tube opening in the transmission.
    • Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Shift cable end from the transmission shift lever ball stud
    • If equipped with a transfer case, remove the front propeller shaft.
    • Rear propeller shaft.
  2. Plug the transmission oil cooler line connectors in the transmission case.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Starter motor.
    • Transfer case, if equipped.
  4. Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
  5. Remove the transmission mount nuts.
  6. Remove the transmission crossmember.
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Torque converter access plug 4L60E/4L65E removal 9308kg37.gif

    • Flywheel to torque converter bolts
    • The two bolts securing the transmission rear mount to the transmission
    • The transmission vent hose, fuel lines, and the wiring harness from the transmission
    • The stud and the bolt securing the transmission to the engine
    • The six studs and one bolt securing the transmission to the engine. Install tool J21366 onto the transmission bell housing to retain the torque converter. Pull the transmission straight back.
    • The transmission from the vehicle
  8. Flush the transmission oil cooler and cooling lines when you remove the transmission.
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Tool J21366 onto the transmission bell housing to retain the torque converter.
    • Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
  2. Raise the transmission into place and remove the tool from the transmission.
  3. Slide the transmission straight onto the locating pins while lining up the marks on the flywheel and the torque converter. The torque converter must be flush onto the flywheel and rotate freely by hand.
  4. Install or connect the following:
    • Six studs and one bolt securing the transmission to the engine. Tighten the studs and the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
    • Stud and bolt securing the transmission to the engine. Tighten the stud and the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
    • Flywheel to torque converter bolts. Tighten the stud and the bolt to 46 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).
    • Torque converter access plug.
    • Transmission vent hose, fuel lines, and the wiring harness to the transmission.
    • Two bolts securing the heat shield to the transmission. Tighten the bolt to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
    • Two bolts securing the transmission rear mount to the transmission. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
    • Install the transmission crossmember. Tighten the nuts and bolts to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm).
  5. Remove the transmission jack from the transmission.
  6. Unplug the transmission oil cooler line connectors in the transmission case.
  7. Install or connect the following:
    • Starter
    • Transmission oil cooler lines to the transmission
    • If equipped with a transfer case, install the front propeller shaft.
    • The rear propeller shaft
    • The shift cable end to the transmission shift lever ball stud
  8. Unplug the oil level indicator tube opening in the transmission.
  9. Install the transmission oil level indicator tube and seal to the transmission.
  10. Tighten the oil pan bolts and fill the transmission with transmission fluid.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
4L80E/4L85E To Remove:
  1. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Transmission fluid
    • Transmission oil level indicator tube and seal from the transmission
  2. Plug the oil level indicator tube opening in the transmission.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Shift cable from the transmission shift lever ball stud
    • If 4WD vehicle, remove the propeller shaft.
    • If RWD vehicle, remove the propeller shaft.
    • The transmission oil cooler lines from the transmission
  4. Plug the transmission oil cooler line connectors in the transmission case.
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Starter motor
  6. Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • The two bolts securing the heat shield to the transmission
    • The transmission vent hose, fuel lines, and the wiring harness from the transmission
    • One nut and one bolt securing the transmission brace to the engine bracket and transmission
    • The two bolts securing the torque converter cover to the engine
    • The four bolts securing the torque converter cover to the transmission
    • The six flywheel to torque converter bolts
    • The two bolts and nut securing the transmission rear mount to the transmission
    • The stud and the bolt on the right side securing the transmission to the engine
    • The remaining six studs and the one bolt securing the transmission to the engine
    • Tool J21366 onto the transmission bell housing to retain the torque converter

  8. Pull the transmission straight back. Remove the transmission from the vehicle.
  9. Flush the transmission oil cooler and cooling lines when you remove the transmission.
To Install:
  1. Install or connect the following:

    • The four bolts securing the torque converter cover to the transmission. Tighten the stud and the bolt to 33 Nm (24 ft. lbs.).
    • The transmission vent hose, fuel lines, and the wiring harness to the transmission.
    • The two bolts securing the heat shield to the transmission. Tighten the bolt to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
    • The two bolts and nut securing the transmission rear mount to the transmission. Tighten the bolts and nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
    • The flywheel to torque converter bolts.
    • One nut and one bolt securing the transmission brace to the engine bracket and transmission. Tighten the bolts and nut to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
  6. Remove the transmission jack from the transmission.
  7. Install or connect the following:
    • Starter motor
  8. Unplug the transmission oil cooler line connectors in the transmission case.
  9. Connect the transmission oil cooler lines to the transmission.
  10. Install or connect the following:
    • The transfer case
    • The rear propeller shaft
    • The shift cable end to the transmission shift lever ball stud
  11. Unplug the oil level indicator tube opening in the transmission.
  12. Install the transmission oil level indicator tube and seal to the transmission.
  13. Tighten the oil pan bolts and fill the transmission with transmission fluid.
  14. Lower the vehicle.

Fluid - A/T: Service and Repair
Transmission Fluid and Oil Filter Changing
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lift Points.
2. Place drain pan under pan
3. Remove oil pan bolts from front and sides only.
4. Loosen the rear oil pan bolts approximately four turns.
5. Lightly tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet or pry to drain the fluid from main case.
6. Remove the oil pan bolts from rear oil pan and gasket.
7. Remove front oil pan bolts leaving one corner bolt in loosely.
8. Lightly tap oil pan with rubber mallet or pry to drain fluid.
9. Remove the following remaining components:
^ The front oil pan bolts
^ The oil pan
^ The gasket
10. Remove the oil filter bolts and filter.
11. Clean the following components:
^ The transmission case
^ The front adapter case
^ The oil pan gasket surfaces with solvent
^ Air dry
^ All traces of gasket material must be removed
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the gasket.
2. Install the oil filter.
3. Install the bolts.
^ Tighten the transmission oil filter bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the front oil pan.
5. Install the front oil pan gasket
6. Install the front oil pan bolts
^ Tighten the front oil pan bolts to 11 Nm (96 inch lbs.).
7. Install the following components:
^ Install the pan
^ Install the gasket
^ Install the bolts
^ Tighten the oil pan bolts to 11 Nm (96 inch lbs.).
8. Refill the transmission with DEXRON III through oil pan fill plug on the side of the (main case) oil pan. Fill the transmission to lower edge of oil
pan fill. Fill plug opening using and oil suction gun.
^ Tighten the oil pan fill plug to 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.).
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Checking Procedure.
