Hi I am sorry to hear that. Repairing your camera SD1400is is quite simple if there is part available. Unfortunately canon does not provide the lens part. It is replacement model instead they repair means they will send you new a new camera if you paid. They usually charge $125 to 145. However, your local repair could repair in cheaper if it is repairable. Your local repair shop would charge around $45 to 145 depend on what they really want to charge. Thanks and best regard!

How do I reset a Cannon Powershot sd1400is if it doesn't turn on?

Try taking the battery out and wait a few seconds and then put it back in.....make sure the battery is full. and Place it on the back with the lens facing up and take a look at the spacing between the lens and the lens housing. If you notice that the gap is not even all the way around the lens, the problem should be easy to fix. This type of a problem usually occurs if the camera was dropped while the lens was extended. Simply - VERY GENTLY - press down the lens on the side where the gap is the biggest. You should hear a "click" as it pops back into place. Try powering the camera back on.

Thanks,
Satya

Have you tried resetting the camera back to the default settings? See page 50 of the owner's manual. (http://www.canoncompact.com/manuals/sd1400-manual.pdf)

When Turning on the Canon Power Shot A530 the

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here are some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, or if repair costs close to the value of the camera, they're worth a try.

Dropped my Canon SD 750, will turn on and lens will move, but the display screen is black & won't show anything- is it unfixable?

Is the screen cracked from the impact of being dropped? It may be worth it to have the LCD screen replaced or just checked in case the LCD ribbon came loose during impact. I would probably contact the guys in the link I posted above and have them check it out. This issue is most definitely fixable though!
