Sounds as though you might have some corruption on the drive.

Option1:
Back up all data on the drive to an alternate location and try to format the usb drive partition with Fat or FAT32. This should, hopefully correct the driver problem in windows.

Option 2:
If this does not correct the problem you might check the program access and default settings to verify the defaults for devices.

Option 3:
"WARNING : Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. If a USB storage device is already installed on the computer"
First is to ensure that the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR start value is 3.
If you are an administrator on the machine, ensure C:\windows\system32\drivers have SYSTEM user access especially USBSTOR.SYS.
If you don't have usbstor.inf in that directory or anywhere in c:\windows, go download from the web.
Go to Device Manager an uninstall the " ? " which was a result of the failed driver installation.
Plug-in the device, then when asked where to search, point to c:\windows\system32\drivers...

Hello, I have A 4gb Kingston pendrive. When i connect it to my PC, It show That "USB Device not Recognized" . Please help me what can i do. Please Please...

Apparently, the driver for this device is not on your system. You can have the operating attempt to find a driver on the internet which it still may not find the correct driver, and you may have to go to the link below.

http://www.kingston.com/support/chooseproduct.asp

You can right click and select open or double left click on the link. If that does not get you to the site you can select and copy the site address pasting it into your browser address bar and clicking on refresh or go. Select your country and product so you can download the correct driver and save it on your hard drive. When you insert your USB drive it will say the device and not recognized prompting you to indicate where the driver is located. Select to manually locate the driver and use browse the indicate where the Kingston driver was saved. Once the driver is installed in the system directory it will recognize it whenever the USB driver is reinstalled.

These kingston pen drives should load without having to find a driver on anything newer than xp and up. try it in a different port on the rear of your machine if possible and make sure you fully seat the stick into the usb port, as this will sometimes cause this problem. once inserted you should be able to browse the kingston drive on "my computer". if not look for a damaged socket or try the key in another computer to verify if it works properly

It gives a cod 10. What can I do

Hi,

If you received a (Code 10) error and have more than one USB device inserted, remove the devices and insert the Kingston DataTraveler by itself. This error may be an indication that your particular system cannot support more than one USB device at a time.

Insert card into card reader. Find which drive letter the card is in. Right click on that drive. You will see an option that says format. A warning will tell you anything on the drive will be errased. Once sure you have the right drive click OK.

Hi bernie_r

It is difficult to find USB FLASH MEMORY to Windows 98, but there are possibilities.
Another thing you can try is to go to the product homepage and see if they have drivers to windows 98 there, many times they give it there. Unfurtunality you have not give the product name so I can not give it to you here, UNLESS you write the product name and version.
For the Kingston USB drives is is :
http://www.kingston.com/flash/datatraveler_home.asp

AND

http://www.kingston.com/support/USBFLASHDRIVES/default.asp

For one they have driver for windows 98 is "Data Traveller 4 GB", It should be easy to find on the marked

You can also e-mail to them and ask for the driver to windows 98.

Hope that helps
For the driver to your flash drive please enter the product name and version.
Have a nice day
