Sounds as though you might have some corruption on the drive.
Back up all data on the drive to an alternate location and try to format the usb drive partition with Fat or FAT32. This should, hopefully correct the driver problem in windows.
If this does not correct the problem you might check the program access and default settings to verify the defaults for devices.

First is to ensure that the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR start value is 3.
If you are an administrator on the machine, ensure C:\windows\system32\drivers have SYSTEM user access especially USBSTOR.SYS.
If you don't have usbstor.inf in that directory or anywhere in c:\windows, go download from the web.
Go to Device Manager an uninstall the " ? " which was a result of the failed driver installation.
Plug-in the device, then when asked where to search, point to c:\windows\system32\drivers...

Apparently, the driver for this device is not on your system. You can have the operating attempt to find a driver on the internet which it still may not find the correct driver, and you may have to go to the link below.
You can right click and select open or double left click on the link. If that does not get you to the site you can select and copy the site address pasting it into your browser address bar and clicking on refresh or go. Select your country and product so you can download the correct driver and save it on your hard drive. When you insert your USB drive it will say the device and not recognized prompting you to indicate where the driver is located. Select to manually locate the driver and use browse the indicate where the Kingston driver was saved. Once the driver is installed in the system directory it will recognize it whenever the USB driver is reinstalled.
