Hello. From what you're describing, I would first check the motor run capacitor. The typical symptom of a bad cap is a pulsing, humming noise--that's the motor trying to turn. It can be very soft to hear. The capacitor looks like a black cylinder, approximately 6 inches long, 2 inches in diameter and is underneath the washer, attached to the bottom of the transmission. It has a connector with 2 wires attached. The part number for it is W10278117. The value on this capacitor is 45uf or 50uf (microfarads). This is how much capacitance the part has, +/- 10%. You will need a meter capable of reading capacitance to measure the part. Just set the meter, put a probe tip on each contact with the connector removed and read the result. Now, if the capacitor checks good, then check the wiring--this washer is notorious for having wiring harness issues. I've found plenty of them with broken wires due to vibration.

My ridgid 24 volt battery wont charge or the battery charger doesn't work how do i test it

there are points where the battery connects to the charger. these points can be tested with a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter- and it can just be a volt ohm meter, it doesn't have to be digital ) - your meter should read voltage when checking across the points. Now if it has a button to turn it on and you turn it on and measure nothing, you're going to have to open the charger up... there is a lot more to this testing... next time, include model number for the charger please

I have a MPV4 Hovaround Electric WheelChair Power charger does not charge. What is wrong?

weel two thinga could be the cause bad batteries or a bad charger, If you have a meter you can set it to 200 vdc and plug the leads into the 2 outer holes of the charger port located on the joystick it will read your battery voltage and should not be below 16 volts. with the same meter have someone hold the charger plug and with it on read the output of the charger across the two outter pins careful not to touch the center pin with the leads it should read 27-30 volts if it is working Hope this helps

New batteries does not seem to fully charge. tested the output of the charger with meter and it shows no voltage on the output of the charger, but the two lights flash quickly when plugged in to the wall...

The measurements below are for a 12 volt charger or across one battery at a time. In a 24 volt charger or across both batteries at once, double the values.
The charger will not show any output unless connected to a battery. To test the charger, attach the charger to the battery but do not plug in the charger. Connect a meter to the battery and read the voltage (9.8v - 11.6v).
Now plug in the charger. Read the battery again (13.6 - 14.2v).
The voltage must not be higher than 14.8 on the battery or the battery will over-charge - the charger needs service. If the voltage does not come up to 13.2v, the charger is not running. Again, the charger needs service.
Be patient. You can wait ten minutes and measure again. Batteries respond slowly to the charger.

Which cable is positive and which is negative as I have lost my crocadile clips that are red and black. Both portions of the cable that lead to the battery are black, one cable having a white stripe. It is...

Chances are the cable with the white stripe is the positive.

However, it would be best to check with a volt meter. Some auto parts stores will check it for you. If you have one or can borrow one and want to check for yourself, set the meter to DC volts (some autorange, some don't). Turn the charger on. Place the leads across the two cables and if the meter is analog, the needle will deflect, usually to the right and show the voltage. If you have it backwards, the needle will move, usually to the left and bounce several times. If it's backwards don't leave the leads connected too long or you might damage the meter.

If the meter is digital and you have connected it correctly, the meter will show a voltage and may have a plus sign in front of the reading. If you connected it backwards, there will be a minus sign in front of the reading.

I have a schumacher se-82-6,i dont use it much and have misplaced the instruction do i read the guage, when do i know battery is fully chargrd or battery wont charge? thanks erik

If you look at the meter, the charge meter of 100% is slightly above the 2 amp mark so it is confusing. because it says the charge represents the amont charged and the amp meter shows when there is no draw on the charger. so if the battery shows 2.5 amp on the amp meter, it's showing 100% charged. but yet they say it should go to zero on the amp meter, which would mean about 150% charged. i think everyone is scared of blowing up or damaging their batteries because the instructions manual is quite contradictory and confusing. well apparantly, they have several versions of this model to make it more confusing, but here's a pic of what i have.

ok, as i was looking for manual online, it is more detailed than the one in box. it now explains this in picture detail. thank you schumacher.
here's the updated manual:

hope this helps.

Sony CMT CP1 Right hand speaker output very noisy, humming, crackling

It sounds to me like you both are having a problem with a capacitor going bad. some capacitors act as a noise filter and it sounds like you both have a bad one. If you are any good with a volt-ohm meter that reads capacitors you should check them to make sure they are at their proper values which will be posted on the capacitor. then replace it. if you dont know how to use a v-o meter then take it to a shop and have them replace it
