Open Question

My new glasses have what appears to be tear away lens covers that have little tabs on the bottom edge. There are blue tabs on the left and red tabs on the right. Am i supposed to remove these "tear away" covers? Or are they supposed to stay on the lenses?

SOURCE: Red convergence lines

Yes, but it sounds like its a solderd related issue because it clears up. Try resoldering the Convergence ICs and if that doesnt help they will need to be replaced.

Replace slot dvd drive in toshiba p500

1) Remove ALL power.
Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.

2) Lay a static free cloth on the table, or workbench you are working on.
(Protects the table, and the laptop)

Laptop closed turn it over, set it down on the static free cloth, Bottom side up.

3) Locate the HarDDrive Compartment Cover.
(Sony's term is HDD Slot Cover)

Looking at the bottom of the laptop, this is the rectangular cover that sits vertical, at the Bottom/Middle of the laptop.
The DVD optical drive is to the Right.

Remove the two Philips head screws which hold the cover.
Remove the cover.

(It has tabs made out of the plastic cover, which are on the opposite side of the screws. These tabs slide down into the Bottom Cover of the laptop.
When removing the cover use care, and do not break these tabs off)

4) With the harddrive compartment cover removed, look at the Right side. There is a square depression next to the right edge, in the middle.
(The square may be colored Blue)

There is one single Philips head screw to remove.
Then the DVD optical drive tray is opened by pushing it's release button.
The tray is used to gently pull the DVD optical drive out of the laptop.

How to change oven lamps on Stoves 600EF oven

Well if it is the same as the 720, you will find a small recess in the leading edge of the glass lens/cover. Using a blunt screwdriver, insert it in the slot and twist it. The lens should gradually come away from the side of the oven. DO NOT attempt to do this if the oven has been in use as the lenses will become too hot to handle. Put a cloth on the bottom of the oven to catch the lens as it falls to protect it. Note that there may be a cut out on the inside of the lens to go over the edge of the bulb/bulb holder, so don't try to put the lense back round the wrong way.

I need to delete some pictures from my nikon coolpix digatal camera but won't let me cause it reads write protection . how can i fix it to let me delete some pictures

Take out the memory chip and push the little tab down...or up. The opposite direction its in. If you look on the side edge of the chip you'll see a little **** next to a small tab (usually light blue, maibe red, might even be black). Once you moved it (up or down) you'll notice the little **** is now covered by the tab and there is a new **** where the tab was (basically the **** is now on the opposite side of the tab).
If there is no **** don't worry, some are designed different. If the **** is visible you can delete pics, if it's covered by the tab then it is protected so you can't delete any (or vise versa).

Got cover off the dell 4700 now it won't slide back on what am i doing wrong

With the system on it's side, place the cover on with front edge about an inch away from the front of the chassis. The tabs for the top and bottom edges (Left and right sides with it laying on it's side) should drop in to the slots, then slide forward ensuring the tabs on the inside of the leading edge slide under the front edge of the chassis. there should be a click from the back latch when properly engaged

Hitachi 53UWX10BA dynamic convergence works but blue is blurry

I know this set very well---you are saying convergence adjusts ok everywhere? If you understand that the blue is usually de-focused a little----there are only two ways to adjust the focus of each tube-----

1.) Behind the front speaker grill there is an inspection plate---with it removed you will see a small black plastic block with 6 controls on it; it is the MASTER SCREEN/ FOCUS BLOCK

2.) THREE of the controls left to right are Screen controls(red, green and blue) and the other 3 are FOCUS--IT IS ALL black and you need to look close to identify which is focus and which is screen---you are looking for the BLUE focus control(one of the 6)

3.) With the convergence grid on screen cover the RED and GREEN lens in the set and try to adjust the focus of the blue(I presume you know how to put the set into the Convergence mode?

4.) The only other way to adjust the Blue focus is from the back of the set---with the Red and Green lens covered up place a blanket over the top of the set that covers the whole screen--from the back of the set you will note that all three of the black focal lens have a wing nut---with the convergence grid up and only blue lines present(Green and Red lens covered with a cloth) look from behind the set at the grid---loosen the wing nut on the blue lens and slowly slide the lens left or right until the blue has the best focus possible----if it will not adjust with the focal lens or the front focus control you have a circuit problem.

I do this here for free and if this information helps you take a minute and give me a vote here. If you have any questions or need advice reply to this posting here and I will assist you.

My oven door shattered. i bought the glass and the outer trim. i need help installing it

This job is best done by two people, one to hold the glass in place, and the other to operate the screwdriver and position the handle and trim pieces.
The glass is held in place by the handle assembly at the top and a metal track at the bottom.  You remove the glass by removing the handle. Open the door part way until you have access to the back of the door.  The door handle is held in place by two screws on the back (the oven side).  Remove the screws, taking care to hold the handle in place.  Be sure to brace the glass, then slowly move the handle away from the door frame.  Remove the glass.  The side trim pieces will probably fall away from the door frame, although they will probably not fall all the way out.  My advice is to carefully remove them.  Be careful; they have tabs on the bottom edge that hold them in the door frame and these tabs are easily broken.  If yours are still in one piece you might just reuse them.
Remove the old glass panel and clear the bottom track of any debris.  Put the new glass panel in, beginning with the bottom track.  Set the oven handle on the top edge of the glass panel; there are tracks on the back of the handle assembly the top edge of the glass fits into.  Bring the handle toward the door frame, taking care not to let the glass panel slip out of the tracks.   The door handle has two collars that go through holes in the door frame.  Once you've got the collars through these holes, you can put the two screws back in that secure the handle to the door.
Take one of the side trim pieces.  Each trim piece has a narrow edge and a wide edge (like a capital "L"), The narrow edge faces the front and the wide edge faces the side of the door.  Each piece has a corner edge with a little tab sticking out.  These face down.  The opposite end of the trim piece has recessed edges. These slide under the edge of the door handle.  You want to insert this end first, then work your way along the length of the trim piece pushing the narrow edge between the door frame and the glass panel.
Here's the tricky part.  To get the bottom in, the best thing to do is to open (or better yet remove altogether) the drawer beneath the oven to gain access to the screws that hold the bottom track of the glass panel to the door.  Loosen the screw that holds the track in on the same side as the trim piece you're working on; the screws are on the bottom of the track about 1 inch in from the edge. Loosen the screw slightly and pull down on that edge of the trim as you push the trim piece in behind the glass.  Repeat until the trim piece tab slips through the hole for it on the track.  Tighten the screw back in place.
Repeat this process for the other trim piece. If you're patient and gentle, it shouldn't be too difficult.  I just did this myself today (2/7/09).
Good luck.

Filmy appearance and spots on the underneath of glass

Today I opened my V200 without much problems. First unscrew the two screws under the lid. Then turn the V200 upside down. Lift the base plate up, gently, beginning at the back (a little twisting is needed). Take care not to force anything. It took me 10 minutes. Fold everything open like a suitcase, then clean the glass inside...
To close again start with the front (sort of click system)

Blue splonge on screen

If this is an LCD, it could be a torn ribbon cable on the red Opitical filter. It's a pain to get to and replace. It could also be a burnt Polarized glass filter on the red channel which is a little easier to replace. Check out for parts and prices. It may not be worth repairing.

Print margins too large on Xerox DocuColor 12 - How do I reset?

Not sure this is what your needing but ,,

The Edge Erase default setting is No Erase, which enables the copies to print within 2 mm of each page edge. This is normally sufficient to remove shadows from the edges. If the dark edge is closer than 2 mm, you must set Edge Erase at Variable Erase.

The Variable Erase option enables the copier / printer to vary the amount of erasure from 0 to 50 mm in 1 mm increments. The same amount of erasure is applied to both top and bottom edges or right and left edges of the document.

  1. Select [Edge Erase] on the Added Features tab. The Edge Erase screen is displayed.
  2. Select [Variable Erase]. The Variable Erase screen is displayed.
  3. Under Top & Bottom Edges, use the [Up] arrow to increase the amount of erasure at the top and bottom edges. Use the [Down] arrow to decrease the amount of erasure at the top and bottom edges.
  4. Under Left & Right Edges, use the [Up] arrow to increase the amount of erasure at the left and right edges. Use the [Down] arrow to decrease the amount of erasure at the left and right edges.
  5. Under Original Orientation select the page orientation that most closely resembles the orientation of the document on the Document Glass.
  6. Select [Save]. The Edge Erase screen is displayed.
  7. Select [Save]. The Added Features tab is displayed and shows the new Edge Erase values.
