Freezing up in duct system frig part

Have you checked the heater/defroster element within the freezer? It may be related. When mine failed I was doing the defrosting with a hair blower. Over time (several days) the frost would build up on the freezer coils and the air couldn't flow as it should....so the thermostat wasn't getting cooled enough and it relayed the information to the cooling system, causing the frige to run all the time. Since it was clogged with frost, the frige was constantly trying to cool itself and the frost problem would get so bad that things in the freezer began to melt due to a lack of cold air circulation. After the heater/defroster element was replaced, frost would melt during the defrost cycle (as it should) and airflow/circulation was restored, allowing the thermostat to be cooled properly. Then the freezer coil was able to 'rest' when it should instead of constantly freezing to meet the demand for cold air in the frige. Hope this makes sense...and helps solve your issue.

Defrost not working heavy ice build up around coils

Hi

Frost is a natural occurrence on the evaporator coils in the freezer compartment of your refrigerator. To prevent frost buildup, a self-defrosting refrigerator warms the coils using a defrost heater several times each day to melt away the frost. This frost melts into water and flows out of the compartment through the drain. If any part of the defrost system is not working properly, the result can be heavy frost buildup that may affect the cooling capacity of the refrigerator.

The defrost timer is a mechanism that tells the defroster how long to run to melt the frost. The limit switch measures the temperature in the freezer and helps to maintain it, while the heater is the key element that melts the frost. Any one of these components could need replacement at a given time, which will result in this over-frosting.

Its working but freezer proper work but refrigerator is not cooling

As struck freezer fan by working due to over frosting behind the freezer where FFan is located. Check defroster cycling is working properly. .Keep temp 5 degree and check thermostat, defrost timer and heater working properly.
Now defrost manually or unplug fridge. And after defrost, plug it again.

Frost is building up in bottom freezer. Amana ABB2224DEW

I have this problem as well, only nobody is leaving anything open. The defroster is defective of these things and the duct between the fridge and freezer gets frozen over and the cold air can't get in the fridge, so the freezer keeps working until it's blue in the face.

Coils keep frosting over in my freezer draw Amana refrigerator. Defrosted about a month ago and now having the same problem again. Why would this happen in a frost free fridge and how can I fix it?

The defroster thermostat is what usually causes a ref/freezer to act this way. It can be changed by anyone handy with tools. You refrigerator schematic should show you where it is located.

I have a Whirlpool Princess series Model# ed20akxsn02 the Frige side is not cooling I have it on the highest setting getting 42 degrees and no cooler but the freezer is working fine?...

Check to see if the fan inside the freezer is working... Also check if you have any frost build-up inside the freezer ..Frost buildup is an indication of either a non working defroster and/or a bad fan. Can't diagnose it with limited information.

AMANA BC20JL FROST/ICE BUILD-UP IN FREEZER, REFRIGERATOR WILL NOT COOL BELOW @46. COILS ARE VACUUMED REGULARLY, MANUAL DEFROST OFFERS NO IMPROVEMENT. EVERY SO OFTEN A LARGE PUDDLE APPEARS FROM UNDER THE...

Make sure defroster heater, temperature switch, and defroster timer and/or circuits are working.

Ice buildup will stop airflow from freezer to fridge, so fridge will be too warm.

My guess would be that the defroster is working half the time, allowing ice to build up. When it does work, it's got way too much ice/water to deal with, so it overflows the pan underneath.

Ice build-up

Defected DEFROST HEATER can cause frost build up on the panel at the back of the freezer, and freezer stop cooling and ice frozen on unit so air could not flow to refrigerator side.Water will coming out caused of unbalanced freezing, and causing the flooding of water in the floor. You must change this defroster heater assembly so it will works normal again..

Hope this may help;
