Question about Nordic Track NordicTrack Treadmill, A2550
When was the last time you lubed the belt?
First not all the treadmill belts require lubrication some are self lubricating and some need external lubrication.
Check with the manufacturer or the manual as to what type of lubricant is needed for your treadmill.
The lubricants that you will find in the market are generally made up of one of two materials- wax or silicon. They should be made from a non-petroleum base. It is very important to use the most suitable lubricant as any wrong pick can degrade the working of the belt, and over all machine. Similarly, excessive lubrication is also not good.
Maintenance kits for your treadmills are easily available on any good online store and retail sports outlets. For walkers, lubrication is required once every year and for the serious runners twice a year.
Spray the underside of the treadmill belt. On some models this can be down by just lifting the side of the mat and spraying underneath from each side. Go down the entire length of the belt that is available when the machine is off.
It could be that you have a faulty speed sensor or one of the magnets has fallen off the speed sensor assembly. That certainly would make it behave erratically... The other thing to check are all cable connections, both to the console and the speed sensor and motor.
It could be a collapsed bearing in the motor but this is very rare, usually the motors have a lifetime guarantee..
I do not know of any "recycle" program though most places will take a faulty unit as a tradein on a new one.
It shouldn't be too expensive to repair your treadmill, a handyman armed with the information I just gave should be able to repair this unit...
If you don't want the treadmill anymore and don't want to repair it then put it up for sale on ebay carefully detailing the fault symptom, you will be surprised what you will get for it...
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
