Question about HP vs19 (Silver) 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

NO power Will not power up. Started this morning. Still under warrantee until Oct 2008. The blue power light may light some times when plugged in, but then goes out and stays out. Can only get this happen, if I unplug the monitor and wait for some time, then replug it in. But, normally this monitor is always on, and goes to sleep when I shut the PC down.

There may be some loose contact in the power supply cable or the short circuit might have occurred in power supply cable or there may some cuts in the middle of it ...just have check with it ..

if there is some short circuit in the power supply cable then you check for the hole or burnt marks on it if so you must change the power supply cable of the monitor ...

if there are some cuts in the middle of the power supply wire internally then it may not be visible if so you must check the power to the monitor motherboard and then identify it and you must replace the power supply cable ...

thank you

There is an issue with the logic control board. If it is under warrantee, take it back. Otherwise if off warrantee try this procedures - (1)UN plug every thing off the TV instep for the power plug than un plug the power from the wall than hold down the? power button for 30seconds than plug every thing back in (2) subout the power and VGA cables as a test to make sure not a cable issue. (3) Remove anything that may be causing electromagnetic interference like a stereo - console TV or other high power source or emitting source like cordless phones etc.. Note that if a desktop pc, then verify your video card fan is working if it has one...if it is overheating, that can cause anomolies.

Blue power button flashing with blank screen

This is most likely the power inverter board in the monitor - this is common in many monitors. If it started taking longer and longer to display an image, and the power light is blinking on-and-off, that's the problem. You can confirm that it's the monitor and not your computer or the cable by plugging in another monitor if you have one to try.

If it's under warranty, send it back, if not, there are inverter boards for many common models of LCD monitors that are replaceable. The board can run anywhere from $50 on up. Depending on how old it is, you may find it better to just replace it with a gently used one from ebay.

What about the blue circle LED on the power button ? still blinking or not ?
For the record I've had some problems with this screen too, sometime I had to unplug and replug my Video Card (and the DVI Cable) and everything was back to normal

Hope it helped you

Moniter won't turn on/power light blinks green

Yeah, I called Dell yesterday, and they said it was a problem that I could not fix myself. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, but my monitor was still under warranty, so they shipped me a replacement right away. I already got it this morning.

FYI: Their monitors carry a three year warranty.

Power Problem

The hissing noise on your speakers is because of arcing. Do not try to operate repeatedly or you may do severe damage. The most likely culprit is the inverter board but you will have to disassemble the monitor to find out. Any loose connection that results in an arc will create noise on speakers. Hissing is usually a result of the high frequency/ voltage output small enough amperage to not blow your power supply If it were a DC arc you would just get a one time pop.

This problem is very often caused by dry electrolytic capacitors on the inverter board. If you have some skill with soldering you could try to change them. When buying new ones ask for LOW-ESR capacitors for switching mode power supplies (SMPS) and 105°C, they are a little bit more expensive than normal electrolytic capacitors, but are designed for this aplications so they lasts more. Normal el. caps will also works fine so when you cannot buy LOW-ESR for SMPS use normal ones.
