Hi cg2709

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE STARTING ANY REPAIRS
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.

Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to replace the front felt seal on the drum if it needs to be replaced. Be sure to use a good grade of weatherproof cement on the seal to glue it to the drum, sometimes the glue is furnished with the seal.
Now is also a good time to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots they will make a thumping type of noise or if there is too much wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil, or a light lubricant like Vasoline.
Reassemble the dryer.
Plug back into your electrical receptical.
This should solve your noise problem.

Dryer heats, but won't spin.

Instructions

1.Check the power cord is plugged in and that the fuse or circuit breaker to the appliance hasn't tripped if the dryer won't run. Make sure the door is closed. Make sure you press the Start button firmly and for at least a second. Check that a cycle is selected.
2.Open the lint screen and make sure it isn't clogged. If it is, clear it. Check that the dryer vent isn't obstructed if the dryer isn't drying satisfactorily. The vent should not be kinked and blocked at the outside. Snow or varmints can cause blockages. Rats and mice love the heat generated from a dryer and will make a nest if they can.
3.Check that you are selecting the right cycle. Air dry, for example doesn't generate heat and can cause garments not to dry.
4.Make sure the dryer isn't overloaded if the clothes shrink. Check the manufacturer's label and make sure it matches with the dryer cycle. It may not be a problem with the dryer; rather, it may be a case of over-drying.
5. Make sure the washing machine is draining properly. The problem may not be with the dryer but with the garments that may be coming out of the washer too wet.
6.Close zippers, snaps and hooks to avoid damage to garments.

Bad vibrations

you will need to remove the top panel and look at the belt and tensioner pulley.

when the bearing in this pulley dries up it will make this horrible sound and also stretches the belt too

I have a LG dlg5988w drying that just started making a banging sound. Are there rollers that need replaced?

yes the belt has a tensioner with a bearing and a roller surrounding the bearing
the bearing can be locked up which will put flat spots in the roller m,aking the banging noise
Sound horrifying at times doesn't it?

Dryer making a louder than normal noise when drying

Possibly the roller, I would have to hear it to be sure, but if it sounds like a clunking noise, it is probably a roller, if it is more of a high pitched whine, or a sound like a penny in a vaccum you probably have something stuck in your blower.
