Well we finally were able to test your theory and you were right it is a faulty thermostat. Thank You for your knowledge. It seems with RVs I am learning something new all the time. I will pick up a new thermostat and have my son install it for me. Thank You again.

There are 6 wires to the thermostat. That are :--- 1) Red -+7.5; 2) Yellow - cool; 3) White-furnace; 4) Blue-hi fan; 5) Brown - fan and , 6) Green - ground. ------------ When this problem of compressor starts, at that time try moving the white wire or loose the screw for yellow wire and then see, is the compressor running or does it stops. ----------- If the compressor stops running, that means the thermostat is faulty .But if still the compressor is running with yellow wire unplugged from its screw, then there is wiring issue. The short is triggering the compressor to turn on.----------or its faulty relay in the lower control box.------- Most probably its faulty thermostat or loose wire .Remove the wires clean them properly and re-connect then check, before going to replace thermostat.--------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

At 100 does not shutoff automatically

If your talking about a refrigerator, it never will as its goal is to try and cool, and its trying. It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load itself is bad the compressor will not run. Best way to tell is via gauges but I doubt your frig has ports. Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your frig is running TYPICALLY means the thermostat is calling for lower temps and the fan/compressor kick in together.

Ac unit runs, inside blower shuts off after 2 mins, compressor continues to run, t-stat still calling for cool

My central AC unit decided to stop on the hottest day of the year. It would start and run normally for a few minutes and then the blower would shut off. After checking the breakers, thermostat and overflow shut off (did not have one) I saw something about a blower motor capacitor. This was easy to get to and replace and my last hope before waiting for someone to come fix it. The capacitor cost $4.04 with tax and had my AC working again. Needless to say I was beyond happy. I hope this can help others with a similar problem.

Thermostat slow to turn AC compressor on. fan comes on but takes 5 min. before compressor comes on

Most a/c's have a 5 minute delay before the compressor turns on and they will do the same when changing from cooling or heating to cooling.

Fan cutting on and off every 5 mins

The only thing that is going to but the fan off is the thermostat. When the fan stops, immediately check the thermostat on the wall. See is there is power between the B terminal and the GH terminal. If none, then replace the thermostat. If there is, then replace the control board in the AC. That means that the fan relay on the printed circuit board is weak.
