Question about Sony VPCEB290X CTO Customized Notebook 9736970
I have never seen a laptop that could not have the lcd sceen replaced. As for finding one that works or not, just make sure when you buy one there is a return policy that will let you send it back if it does not work.
Then never have to be saudered. They do sometimes have to be screwed in place.

The part number of the screen is on the back of the screen. For the most part, use the exact replacement. While some manufacturers may use several different brands in the same model, Sony seems to be fairly consistant. Generally, most laptops have anywhere from 4-10 screws to remove. The connections aren't soldered, merely snap together. The flat connectors may have a piece of tape holding the connection together. Be careful when you remove it.
