ASUS eee pc stuck in sleep mode. Of course there is no screen. I tried holding the power button down for a bit but nothing happens. I can hear the fan and I assume, the hard drive. I tried letting the battery run down but as soon as I plug into mains power there she is again. I would appreciate any suggestions as I have photos form Europe that I was going to transfer to a larger laptop and burn. Thank you.

try unplugging from the mains, remove the battery, hold the power button down for 30 seconds. plug the mains adapter in and try turning on. if it doesn't work then it's either the power socket or the mainboard. if it does work, then try it again with the batter in. if it stops working then your battery's shot.
I see that you're having boot issues, here are some other things that you can try :
Ensure that the computer is turned off
Unplug/disconnect all USB connections
Unplug the ac adapter cable
Carefully remove the battery
Press and hold down on the power button for at least 10 seconds
Connect the ac adapter without the battery
Turn on the computer
If the above procedure works, then you may reconnect all devices once the computer is up and running. Otherwise, I am recommending a full operating system re install.
You can try updating your BIOS to see if this resolves the problem, otherwise you can disable sleep mode from occuring.
I am going to assume you have Windows OS.
- BIOS drivers will be available from the Asus website.

To disable sleep mode:
- Click the battery icon at the bottom right of the screen. - Select 'More Power Options' - On either plan, choose 'Change plan settings'. - Change 'Put Computer to Sleep' to 'Never' for both settings.
I think on this model you should go into "settings" and configure the screen "sleep" option.press power button for more than 5 sec's to see if you can boot it back to life--failing that youll have to re-instal OS from an external dvd/cd rom etc--good luck!
try removing the battery, and holding the power button down for 1 minute( with the computer unplugged of course) - put the battery back in and try to power it on again. this may or may not help
Try hitting the "Windows" key on your keyboard to bring it out of sleep mode. The "Windows" key is generally found on the bottom row of the keyboard, near the Alt and Ctrl keys, and it has no letters on it, just the Windows logo. That key brings my Windows Vista machines out of sleep mode when other keys won't.
As for the power button, anytime you need to force a computer to turn off, you can press and hold the power button to do so. Usually, you need to hold the power button for 5-10 seconds and it will shut down. Use this option with caution, as it turns the computer off without running through the shutdown process and can cause you to lose data.
