Actually you can use either 80mm or 120mm fan. However 120mm are cooler that 80mm. For the brand all brands are good but just look if they have Cooler Master with 90CFM or any brand with 90CFM. You also have an option ot choose a Fan with LED. Thanks

Can i install 2 X 2gb ddr sdram on my Gateway GT5082

From what I gather you can use DDR PC3200, DDR (non-ECC) that equate up to 4gb of ram. So, as long as the RAM you are putting in is PC-3200 and no more than 2gb per stick, you should be good to go.

Gateway gt5082: usb not working, on the motherboard and front. i have installed a new hd and installed the new recover gateway cd that came w/the computer. still nothing.

If you reinstalled operating system then it means it's a hardware issue. You'll have to check the internal connections from motherboard to front panel. I'd also poke around the bios setup page to see if it was accidentally turned off. It's not likely the case, but it's always best to check.

Hope this tidbit of info gets you going. Let me know if you get stuck or have a specific follow up question.

I have an old gateway 7023ge computer and i wanted to find out the size of my cooling fans so i can replace them. i have 2 fans one front and one rear. they are both the same size.

Computer case fans for older computers were usually standard sizes of 80 millimeter or 92mm, maybe120mm. 25.4mm = 1 inch, so an 80mm fan is about 3 inches. Measure the diameter of the fan from the tip of one fan blade to the tip of the opposite fan blade. A 92mm fan is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and a 120mm fan is about 4 3/4"

Again, these sizes are _nominal_, so whatever your measurement is closest to is what you need. You should be able to measure the rear fan from the outside back of the computer without taking anything apart.

I don't know how it got there, but on the home or start page, there is a white bar(like a tool bar) across the top off the screen. It has some files or folders including recicle bin, 60 day trial - office...

A real pain these are as there is precious little space to read the documents, let alone the adverts.
Right hand mouse click on the bar and uninstall it.

Gateway GT5082 will not load. It powers up, power on light is lit, harddrive and dvd drive flash at the same time. CPU fan runs continous nothing loads.

Try starting in SAFE mode first by pressing F8 repeatedly as you poweq up and see if it wil start in safe mode.

If so remove any recently installed hardware or programs and then re-start

Let me know how you get on

Fan wont stop running it didnt used to run all the time?

Your system could have built up some dust.

You should take it outside, open the case, and spray some compressed air into the system.

I usually use two cans at the same time, works better than one at a time.

Let me know if that solves the issue.
