Question about Poulan Pro 42CC 2 Cycle Chainsaw, 18"

1 Answer

I purchased a 260 Pro 42cc. I just got it out and when I pushed the primer bulb it did not return to the un-depressed position. There was no fuel in the bulb. I pulled the lines and gas pumped out of one line and the other was dry. It never fired until I shot starting fluid into the carb. Ran for about 3 seconds and quit. If you think I have a plugged gas line, can you tell me how to check? Thanks for your help in advan]ce!

Because you interfered with it , the warranty is void and if you have a blocked line ( unlikely) then any repairs are at your cost
it could be a stuck valve under the primer bulb that is the problem so remove the bulb and check the valves operation

Fuel line diagram poulan wild thing 40cc

I can't give you an actual diagram but a I can try to explain how it should go. There is a line with the filter in the tank that goes to the bottom of the carb, there is another line from the carb that goes to the in port of the primer bulb, the out side of the primer bulb will go back down into the fuel tank. The primer will pull gas from the tank through the carb into the bulb then return the gas from the bulb to the tank

Check the fuel filter, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of all of the fuel lines. Fix or replace the primer pump. When you get it working right, push the primer quite a number of times to flush all of the old fuel out of the carburetor. Unless the carburetor is in trouble, you should be able to start the engine again. Hope this helps!

The fuel line from the tank that has the filter on the inside end is the main fuel line and should go near the top of the carburetor. The primer connection goes to the lower connection. Remove the tank side line from the primer bulb and leave loose. If the bulb is working in the proper direction, it will pull fuel from the carburetor and into the primer (and normally expel the excess back into the tank). Once the bulb is filling correctly, re-attach the return line to the bulb. Try to start the engine. If ok, it should run. Hope this helps!

Route for fuel lines of craftsmen chainsaw

In general, the routing is from the fuel filter in the tank, through about 3 inches of fuel line inside the tank, then through the upper wall of the tank near the carburetor position and up to the top of the carburetor. Don't make any sharp bends in the line or it will eventually kink at that point. The line within the tank should allow the filter to flop around to find the lowest pick-up point as the saw position is changed. If the saw has a primer bulb, it should pull fuel from the carburetor (at a lower port) into the bulb when it is pumped. Another line runs from the output side of the bulb back down into the tank to return fuel (no filter here). Fill the tank with fuel mix and attempt to pump fuel into the bulb from the carburetor (leave the return line loose for a test). If successful, attach the remaining line to the bulb, and attempt start. Hope this helps!

McCulloch Chainsaw carb not getting fuel

This is the same problem I have with a Mac 3200. I have: (1) A line from the primer bulb to the front port on the carburator. (2) line from fuel tank, with attached fuel filter, to the other primer bulb port. (3) Line from port on back of carb. to ????. I thought it must be a pulse line, but not certain, and don't know where to run it to. Please let me know when you find out.
