My hitachi 53udx10b was supposedly just serviced but the picture is extremely blue. Have tried adjusting picture to no avail. Help.

I am going to tell you a simple thing to do to know what your problem may be.

With the set on turn the color all the way to zero. Go to a channel if you can that is in black and white. What color is the screen?

If the answer is that it is blue in the background whoever serviced the set did not and could have removed front speaker grill and inspection plate behind it; there is a black plastic block with three screen controls (red, green, blue) and 3 focus controls (do not touch the focus ones.)

I suspect if the blue screen is there a slight adjustment of the blue screen down will correct this.

The picture with the color at zero should be black and white or gray. If blue is background color it will also be with color.

This is called gray scale; picture with color off has to be gray or black and white.

Before you rate this solution if you have questions make a comment right here and I will advise you.

The picture has a red color

You need to First turn Color Off In the Menu then, Find the Screen and Focus Control Block
adjust the Red/Green/Blue Screen drives To a Black and White Picture, Then Go Back to Menu -Color and turn Color Back on.
Remove the Front Bottom Panel and Control Block is behind it. It will have 3 controls on top for Focus and 3 under them for Screen Drive to each Tube R/G/B

Hitachi 53fdx20b picture is red

This is a set first made in 2002. I have seen a few of them with too much red.

Most likely what is wrong is the RED SCREEN CONTROL. It is located behind the front grill assembly at the front of the set. Screws usually secure it from the back on either side and then it pulls off--held by pegs usually.

Behind it is an inspection plate with several screws. Behind that is a BLACK block about 3 inches square with six controls(everything is black) One row of three will be marked FOCUS--stay away from those. The other row will be marked SCREEN.

With a flashlight you will have to look closely at the two rows of controls--they will have r,g,b marked next to them. (red, green, blue)

If you go to a Black and white program and the background is redish etc--take the set to a unused Video input2_bing.gif and after you locate the RED SCREEN CONTROL turn it slowly (less than 1/8 of a turn) to the left---the idea is to adjust just until the screen does not show red---on a blank input it should be black.

Double check it on a Black and White program and then if it was the problem the color should now be normal.

These sets did have some problems with that Screen /Focus block going bad--the entire block costs under 25 dollars and all the wires on the back of it plug in; if you have to keep adjusting it over a short period of time replace it or live with it.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for Free.

I have a hitachi rptv model #43FWX20B and the picture has a red tint to it. Opened back up and red green and blue bulbs light up. red bulb stays bright while blue and green go dim to bright as tv plays....

Howdy;
Since you don't have any white lines with the red screen/picture I would say that the red bulb (CRT) is conducting too much. There is an adjustment control for that. The 'sceen' control is behind the speaker cover and service cover. Turn red screen control slightly to the left until you get a good black and white picture.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

The colour on my TV is a reddish colour. Have tried the colour adjustment. Skin colours in particular.

simple. easy. you have 3 screen adjustments. red green blue. turn color all the way down. you should then get just a black and white picture, but in your case, it will still be reddish. behind the speaker grill is an access panel for screen adjustment. remove speaker grill. remove access panel. you will see a block assembly roughly 6 inches square with 6 knobs on it. 3 are for screen, 3 are for focus. adjust until you have a black and white picture. then go into menu and turn your color back up. enjoy!

The image leaves and the screen goes black.

Either the picture tubes are going, or they are dusty. Take apart the front grill and take off the black cut away behind the grill. Inspect the tubes and the circuit boards. If they are dusty blow them off with an air can duster. It might work and its free and takes 5 minutes.

Sanyo tv.

Have this listed as a Sanyo but under a Samsung repair heading, But the way to quickly gray scale a set remains the same, First we have to find the screen / Focus controls for the set, allmost all the time they will be behind the speaker grill behind a protective cover and have six controls, one set for focus and the other for screen, Usaly this control box is about the size of a pack of cigaretts. Now get the set to display a black pix, usaly going to a input that has no signal will do this, next turn the screen clock wise till the retrace lines and color shows up then turn it back (counter clockwise till all color disapears, do this for all three and thats the basic Grayscale for the set
