Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Can the element be changed by a diy-er? I think it is the element because the washer is working but does not heat up and then starts to beep until the machine is opened.

Dishwasher starts but after few mins beeps and stops

I believe the internal heating element is shorted and it is shutting the washer down to prevent a shock or damage to the machine. Elements can be complicated to replace so have a professional do the job or you may end up with leaks. Make certain they test element first before replacing to verify it is bad.

E 01 display and beeping

Hi
Check for the following if you get "E01" error message 1. Check for the vent hose whether it is clean which is less than two feet (to outside). 2. Check for the temperature sensor probes one in back at heating element and one in front by the lint filter for the temperatur rises resistance increases on both of them and visa versa. 3. Check whether the unit has been grounded. 4. Check for the element that turns off and on during drying process. 5. When first starting and dryer is cool it will dry one load of clothes, it also seems to work for at least the first part of the cycle, until clothes began to get dry then it over heats. display shows E01 and will not run until it has set for about an hour.
Thank you!

User Manual of Asea Cylinda 1200 Dishwasher

One of these was in my house when I moved in, still have the manual. Very efficient dishwasher.
A is a prewash (machine will stop after it). Manual says it's meant to rinse stuff while you wait until you've filled the machine to run a full wash.
D is economy wash. Water is heated according to the switch you select on the front.
C is a prewash that will continue on to D (normal cycle). Water is at incoming temp.
B is another prewash that will continue on the C etc (heavy cycle). Like C, water is at incoming temp.
E is dry cycle. Heating element is on/off depending on switch on the front (dunno why you'd turn it off..)
While turning the dial, push it in and it will stop exactly at the start of theach cycle.
Mine has stopped emptying, think the pump has died, looking for a replacement..

Washer/dryerstops filling

I think that what you're seeing is a faulty water heating element. The element is kept switched off until the pressure switch (the thing on the end of the clear tube) detects that there's enough water in the machine for it to be safe to start heating without burning the element out. If the element is faulty, it will take out your earth leakage trip as soon as the pressure switch applies power(the usual failure mode is pinhole leaks in the element sheath, allowing water in to compromise the powdered mineral insulation inside). Confirm by running few cold wash cycles. If the machine works fine with these, but fails when you have a warm cycle selected, then element it is. The element lives in the bottom of the drum. You should be able to get a new one on the net for under £23. A.
