Question about Singer 6510 Sewing Machine

I have a singer machine. Have not used it yet. Got it out of the box by the handle and it looks like the horizonal spool pin broke off. Is this replaceable? Or is this spool pin removable If so how do I put it back on?

Do you have the manual with it, refer to this to find out if the spool is removable.

if you don't have one, then go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html, type in your model number and click "search" to find it.

Some machines will have two spool holders so you can twin sew but as long as you have one left the machine is useable.

How to remove broken horizontal spool pin of Singer Sewing machine model 6550 and replace with new spool pin?

It appears to be just "hooked" on according to the photo, and you can get the replacement part for $4.00 using this link: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/spool-pin-singer-3709-sewing-machine.aspx.

However, before you go to all that trouble, you can also just use the auxiliary spool pin used for twin needle sewing which came with your machine but can be purchased from the same site for about the same price.

I don't use either -- I just put the spool in a cup behind the machine and thread from there. See? One way or another, you're back in business!

Looking for the two hole spool pin for my Thompson. I saw some on ebay for singer machines. Are they compatable? Thanks

They're probably cheap enough that you can buy it and see, but there's another way. You don't need a spool pin at all, and I never use mine. I put a coffee cup or Mason jar at the back on the right side, put the spool in it, and feed it from there.

How do I replace spool pin

Some spool pins are screwed in and some are just wedged in. You can purchase a wedge in spool pin from your local store and use it to replace a screw in one but you cannot use a screw in pin to replace a wedge in type.

I have a singer featherweight 11 117 model and the spool pin snapped. Where can I get a replacement?

First of all, it's likely at this point that you think your machine is unusable without it, but you're wrong. I have four Singer high-end sewing and embroidery machines, and it has been years since I used their spool pins.

Simply put a coffee cup or--my favorite--a lidless pint Mason Jar at the back of your sewing machine towards the right (away from the fabric side), bend the thread (don't wind the thread) around the remains of the spool pin to use it as a thread guide, and then thread the way you usually do, and you are in business!

Now, to address the replacement issue, there are several places where you can order a new one. Do a search on eBay for "Singer Featherweight Spool Pin" and a number of listings will come up. Don't put in your model number in the search box. If you see that a dealer is featuring one for a Featherweight, but not for your model, don't hesitate to use the "Ask a Question" option in a listing; these are generally quite knowledgeable dealers who can order one for you. Also Jenny's Sewing Studio and Sewing Parts Online either have them in stock or can order them for you. It appears that they are quite inexpensive too!

Singer sewingmachine how to stop thread from breaking on the top

Thread breakage is often caused by a burr on the needle. Whenever i have a problem with thread breakage, I unthread the machine, replace the needle, and rethread.
Sometimes thread will wrap around the spool pin, so I use the upright spool pin or use a mug or water glass to hold the spool upright behind the machine.

Are talking about the spool pin(s)? Download the instruction manual for your machine free from the Singer Sewing Machine site. If you have lost the pin or pins, they are currently available on eBay for your machine for $6.95 for two including shipping.

My son broke the spool pin and I can not find a replacement. Is there a universal one that I can purchase?

You didn't throw away the piece did you? You can get a fiberglass repair kit at the automotive store, mix a little up and use it as glue. You may have to tape it together for a little while but then it will be like new.
