If a motherboard is bent against its normal proportional look, you have a motherboard problem and need to get this looked at by a professional. (In short, the motherboard is going out)

Or if you are capabable of repairing yourself search ebay for a new motherboard.

Hi I think your unit has memory card receptance unit bad.( the CF card inserting area pins---bent and shorting), or some of loosen screw moving around and shorting. Mostly it is the pin problem. Your local repair shop would charge around $50 to 195 depend on what they really want to charge. If you are going to repair shop, ask them check your CF card female socket condition.) Thanks and best regard!

Just installed Arch Linux, Firefox was fail, so I switched to Opera, but it lags on youtube and other videos...It never lagged on XP...any suggestions?

Hello - It's usually a sign of too little RAM, a non accelerated video card, too little CPU or a combination of these issues. It it wasn't lagging on XP I would suspect your video is not being accelerated by Linux.

You didn't give your system specs but you would need a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, say a 1 GHz CPU and a 64 MB accelerated video card to run any current GUI Linux system well (web browsing being the most common app for people.)

Also, Opera was always known (rightfully) for it's blazing speed but the last few versions (the way of all software it seems) are more and more bloated=slow. It is somewhat debatable, but many folks (myself included) think that the major browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera) all run slower on Linux than on Windows.

If your system is up to spec then I would give Chrome a whirl. If your system is not up the the specs I listed I would try using a Linux distro using a lighter GUI (meaning not Gnome or KDE) like Xubuntu (XFCE).

Finally, make sure you have a large enough disc swap file. The general rule is to have a swap partition about twice as large as the amount of your physical RAM.

    Good Luck,

Ice tea was spilled network wireless card stopped working

I wouldn't use the card again for fear that it may have a short in it, and burn out other components in the motherboard.

Not only the power, and signal sources from the motherboard to the wireless card, but a short in the card could result in damage to the entire motherboard as well.

Not worth it in my book.

In otherwords I would fork out for a new wireless card.

    Wireles conection problem

I've run into this issue with USB wireless network cards from DLink, Linksys, and Netgear. For me, the issue was with the USB ports on the PC and not having enough power for the device, the connection would stay live for a random amount of time and then all of a sudden it would die (same thing would happen when resuming from hibernation or standby). I added a PCI card with a powered USB hub in it and it solved my problem.

    Hope this info helps!

If you didnt do so, change the mouse and try it. If it still dont work, It sounds like she shorted the usb (mouse) port and took out the MB also.
By the time and expense of getting a new MB. you can find a new comparable computer for about $400.00 dollars.

    Not powering up

Sounds like you have done a lot of the footwork yourself and that helps. Have you tried the AGP card in another computer? Do you have an auxiliary fan in your CPU box? Do you normally leave the computer on all the time or shut it off when not in use? Seeing all you did I will assume the MB is clean of dust/dirt. The voltage drop is rather minor but may indicate a short. There normally is a sag when the MB is drawing current. 4.7V should still be sufficient for proper operation of TTL parts. I would suggest checking closely, with a microscope or some other type of magnifier, for a bent pin in the AGP slot. It is possible that it has been bent all along but slowly caused a short due to excessive current draw. Since the MB is 4 years old it might be time for an upgrade anyway. To diagnose further, w/o the aid if a schematic, would be costly and would liekly exceed the cost of buyng a replacement. Good luck.
