Well, before trying something like opening the calculator, I'd advise archiving anything that you want to save to your PC. But what's done is done.
Are you sure that you're inserting the batteries with the proper polarity? Are you sure that the batteries are good?
It does sound to me like some sort of hardware problem, but strange things could happen if RAM gets corrupted (such as by being without power for too long).
It could be that the calculator really is on, but isn't displaying anything. The following solutions assume that the calculator is on.
Try a warmstart, that is hold down the ON key, press and release C, release ON.
If that doesn't work, try forcing a warmstart with a paper-clip reset. Remove the upper right (as viewed from the back) rubber foot. You'll see a small hole with the letter R next to it. Insert a straightened paper-clip (or something similar) straight in as far as it will go, and release it.
If that doesn't work, and you're willing to lose everything you had stored on the calculator, try clearing all user memory. Hold down ON, hold down A, press and release F, release A, release ON.

TI-89 Titanium screen frozen at apps menu

Remove the small memory battery, and then remove one of the four AAA batteries, then while holding down the APPS button reinstall the AAA battery and then it should say waiting to recieve operating system then hook it up to your computer with the silver connect cable and then on the computer send the operating system to the TI89 Titanium, and wait for it to install completely and it should work.

Take the batteries out; this should shut it off. It should restart normally after the batteries are put back in.

How do i change the mode on my Casio fx-82au plus calculator?

Press SHIFT [MODE] to bring up the mode screen. Press 8 for NORM, then 2.
Bear in mind that if the magnitude of the number is too large or too small the calculator will switch to scientific notation anyway. For example, if a number has twenty leading zeros then it won't fit on the display unless it displays it as a power of ten to the negative twenty.

Won;t power up at all. New batteries but I did not replace back up battery. should I? Tried the contrast fix. Son said he dropped it and it got kicked down hall at school. One year old. Any hope?

Hello,

If new batteries did not solve the problem, the next thing to check would be the battery terminal.

If the battery terminal is rusty, the battery power won't contact and the calculator won't turn on. So, use a flat small screw drive to scratch the battery terminal so that there would be contact.

If the above is not the problem, the next to check would be the wire connecting the battery terminal to the the calculator's main board. There is a wire between the battery terminal and the calculator board. When the battery is inserted, the power from the battery goes from the terminal to the board through this wire. There is a possibility that this wire is cut in-between or is loosing contact. In this case, you need to get a small screw driver and carefully disassemble the calculator in order to check the wire.

If the wire is intact, use a light brush to brush the calculator board as there might be dust on the board.

If non of the above helps, then it means the calculator is dead and needs a replacement.

Regards.

It's "frozen". won't change from the screen its

Try to reset it by taking out the batteries and leaving to sit for a minute or so, if that doesn't work take out the small battery as well and leave it sit, if you're still stuck you can call ti-cares (800-842-2737) they're generally very helpful.
