Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Note: this is a pre-owned console. When I try to get into the System Settings, the Wii freezes. No error, no following screen, no soft reset functionality: the only option is to hard boot it. The Data Management Screen next to the System Settings opens fine, and I have no other problems with the system. Anyone heard of this one before?

Looks like you have yourself a modified wii. Whoever owned it before you had "hacked" it and broke it. It is a common problem with a mod called "DarkWii"

Testimonial: "Thanks. Now I just have to figure out what all that means, but it's obviously a good start to know what the previous owner did."

Okay, here's a stupid question: how do I tell what version my System Menu is, without being able to get into the System Menu?

I don't think you can. If you can not get in I think you are out of luck on that one.

thanks. It turns out that priiloader 0.4 is on this thing, so there might be hope. Let me take another look at your links, and hopefully I'll be able to figure this out without totally bricking my wii.

Wii nintendo bought used how do i reset it

Method One: The Soft Reset The soft reset is the easiest way to reset the Wii, and the least intrusive. There are two ways to perform the soft reset, either using the Wii remote or the button on the console.
To reset the Wii using the Wii remote, begin by pressing the home button (the small button with a house on it). This will bring up a menu screen. Next, move the cursor to the button labeled "Reset" on the screen. Press the "A" button on the remote to select the reset option. This will reset the system.
If the Wii remote is not responding, users can also reset the Wii using the button on the main console. First, locate the button labeled "Reset"--it's on the front of the console, beneath the "Power" button. Press and hold the "Reset" button for two seconds, then release the button. This should reset the system. Users should remember that resetting the Wii will shut down any running programs immediately and destroy any unsaved data, so only reset the Wii if it is causing problems. However, resetting the Wii will not alter any information stored on SD cards.
Method Two: The Hard Reset If the soft reset doesn't fix the Wii, users can also perform what's known as a "hard reset." A hard reset involves disconnecting the Wii's power supply and must be done manually--there are no pre-programmed buttons on the Wii that will perform the hard reset.
To begin the hard reset, find the "Reset" button on the front of the console. Press it for two seconds, then release (this performs a soft reset on the device). Next, press and hold the "Power" button. Continue holding this button until the light in the button switches from green to red--this means that the Wii console has shut down. Now, unplug the AC power adapter cord from the wall outlet or surge protector as well as from the console itself. Allow the Wii to remain like this for five minutes.
Once five minutes have passed, plug the AC power adapter cord back into the console, then connect the other end of the cord to an AC outlet. Press the "Power" button to turn the Wii on. The system should now be running smoothly.
Method Three: Reset Factory Controls Sometimes, Wii users might want to return the system to its original, factory-shipped status and remove any personal data. Nintendo especially recommends doing this before selling or gifting a used Wii to someone else. To perform a factory reset, also known as formatting the system memory, go to the Wii menu and select the "Wii" button, then select "Wii settings." Click on the blue arrow on the right-hand side--this will bring users to a page called "Wii System Settings 3." Select the option labeled "Format Wii System Memory," entering the parental controls PIN if requested. Finally, select "Format" to complete the factory reset. This will remove all hard-drive data from the Wii, and such data cannot be recovered, so users should only perform a factory reset if they're sure they want to do so.

Error code 32004

we need to start from square one... let's do this

Power on your Wii console and press the A Button on the Wii Remote to reach the Wii main menu. Use the Wii Remote to select the "Wii" button.

Now, select "Wii Settings" to access the "Wii System Settings" menu.

Using the arrow on the right side of the screen, scroll to page two and select "Internet."

Select "Connection 1: None"

(Don't see "None" in Connection 1? Click the Connection 1 button, then choose "Clear Settings.")

Click on "Wireless Connection" and then "Search for an Access Point."

(Are you using a wired Internet connection to your Wii console?

Select "OK" and the Wii will display all the wireless networks it finds.

Select the wireless network that is yours.

If you are prompted to "Enter the Password or Key," then the wireless network you are trying to connect to has wireless security turned on. You will need to type in your security key or password and select "OK."

Select "OK," "Save Settings," and then "Yes."

The Wii console will run a connection test with your wireless network when the test is completed. You should see the following screen:

As long as you see "The connection test was successful," the "Wii Support Code" does not matter and can be ignored

The connection test was successful - Then you're almost done! After your connection test, the Wii console will check if there is a new Wii System Update available. Once you select "Yes" and "I Accept," the Wii will begin to download any available updates. Click here to find out what's next!

The connection test was not successful - If the test was not successful, you will receive an error code.

Error Code 51330 or 52130: This means the security code you entered into the Wii is not the same one your router is set to. Look in your router's settings and try again.

As a last resort... 1. reset your router or 2. temporarily remove the password from your router... this way you will know where the problems lies.

Thanks

Cannot remember old password ,How do I reset so as to use with info that I have entered.in system

Here is how to reset your Nintendo Wii:

1. First, the easy way. A soft reset of the Ninetendo Wii. If you Nintendo Wii has just started acting up and there is no reason to perform a hard reset then follow this instruction. Simply press the reset button and hold down for 2 seconds on your Nintendo Wii Console.

2. Now, for the more advanced hard reset. Interestingly, the Nintendo Wii has NO hard reset facility to be accessed through the machine or via buttons. The ONLY way to hard reset your Nintendo Wii is to UNPLUG it for 5 minutes. Once it is unplugged it resets itself and your badly behaving Nintendo Wii should be restored.

Note: By hard resetting the Nintendo Wii, it will not delete any information on the SD Card that is used for storage. If you wish to delete this data, stick it into a computer with a multi-media card device or a digital camera and reformat it.

How can i reset the wii i have the chip in and the hack but some of the new games they playfor about 10 min and then stop freez compleetly how can I FORMAT THE WII

Format (Erase) Wii System Memory
This option is used to delete ALL Channels and ALL save data that have been added to the Wii console and will wipe the system memory clean, as it was when purchased new. Please note that if you also have a Wii Shop Account, that data should be deleted first:

To clear information from the Wii Shop Channel, including records of your transactions and rights to download software:
  1. Access the Wii Shop Channel. Select "Settings" from the list of options.
  2. Select "Remove Wii Shop Channel Account." Once completed, all information will be erased.
To delete ALL Channels and save data :
  1. Access the Wii System Settings screen.
  2. Click on the left blue arrow twice to reach the Wii System Settings 3 menu options.
  3. Select "Format Wii System Memory." If Parental Controls are set, enter the PIN.
  4. If you are sure you want to erase the Wii console's system memory, select "Format."
This option will erase your HBC and Neogamma channel too, if you have softmod..

Hopefully this help.

Reset wii console

Step1First you will need to check a few things, just to make sure what the actual problem is.

*Check to see that all cords are properly plugged in.
*Make sure the sensor bar is properly center above or below your tv set.
*Make sure that nothing is blocking the signal to the sensor bar.
*Make sure that the batteries in the remote are in good working order.
*Make sure that there are no wireless devices close by that might be interfering with the signal. Step2If after all this the remote is still not working then it probably needs to be re-synced. Step3Turn off and unplug your wii console for a few minutes. Step4*Turn the power back on and when you see the the safety screen open the small flap on the front of the wii console. Inside you will find the red sync button. Press and hold the red button down for 15 seconds.

* Then remove the battery cover from the wii remote, inside you will see another red button.

* Press and release the red button, the blue lights on the remote will start blinking.

* Quickly press and release the red sync button on the wii console.

* The remote will stop blinking and it should now be synced.
