My ps3 wont fully format it stops at 99% how do i fix this problem if there is any way to fix it .....if any one knows how to fix contact me A.S.A.P lol!!!!!!!

It may be inside the ps3 console and it may be broken you have to either clean the disk or get a new ps3 but try contacting a game stop or going to a local game stop to ask for help you might be able to fix it

There might be something wrong with the harddrive. The link below will help you format the drive on your computer. If you get the same problem on your computer then the drive is bad and you will need to replace it.

Formatting writes data to the disk, should a sector of the disk be damaged the hard drive may not report it to he PS3 firmware. If you can install the hard drive in a computer hard drive repair utilities, like spinrite, can often fix such problems. http://www.grc.com/spinrite.htm
Connecting it to a computer and doing a low level format there is likely to have better error correction than the built in PS3 formatting.

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to use the drive to your PS3 Console you can still do a Quick Format on the Hard Drive but make sure you select Fat32 File System type to be able for the Ps3 to detect the hard drive. Make sure you use Windows XP or Windows 7 on formatting the hard drive to Fat32 because Windows Vista dont have Fat32 it uses ExFat.

There is NOTHING you can do to fix the issue but to replace the hard drive. The drive is encrypted by the ps3 so you can't even hook it up to a usb enclosure and pull the files off.

Sorry but you'll have to swap the hard drive out with a new drive in order to fix the issue. ANY 2.5" SATA laptop drive will work so long as it's 500gb and smaller ;)

This is a problem occurring in all the play station 3 consoles....... this is mainly because of some error in board .....as a result it leads to the damage of ur PS3 ....................try to update your system ..........

If you are seeing this error it is because the GPU and the CPU have overheated and you will need to stop the heat to fix this. You can send the console in and they will fix it for you but it does take about 4 weeks to fix.

You can quite easily fix this with a few household tiems from home.

Before trying to do this yourself its best to contact the manufacturer and have them tell you whats happening and how to fix it or run diagnostic tests and determine that your system has a malfunction in it and will 90% of the time replace your system with a refurbished one (this can happen after warranty; mine was 2 years after warranty expired)

My ps3 won't show an icon for any disc that is in, it loads forever and still nothing, aparently my laser is broken, looking on the net and the problem you are having is related to the problem I have according to most people's blogs. If you still have a warranty, call the Sony customer care line on: 08705998877, I called them today, I just had to give my name address phone number and serial number on back of ps3, my new ps3 is being delivered by courier, free of charge tomorrow!
