Windows cannot recogonize blank disk in drive E. I downloaded an up to date driver and windows cannot burn a disk because no recordable drive could be found. windows also tells me that I do not have a diskdrive capable of burning a CD or DVD. I previously downloaded pictures off my camera and was able to burn them to disk. the disks are not the problem as they work on another computer.

HI

  1. There is a virus circulating that causes this, and very few AV software know about it yet.
  2. It could be that the cable has pulled out of the back of the drive.
  3. try uninstalling the driver and rebooting
  4. try reinstalling your burner software. EG: Roxeo, nero, etc.

The Virus. is called AntiVirus2008. but it does a lot more bad stuff.

If you find you have it. run these in order.

    1. mbam-setup.exe

    2. ComboFix

    3. Spybot S&D
    Google them!

The problem is the optical drive it's self. you may need to replace the optical drive if it will not recognize the disk or burn any disk.
or you might be able to find the manufactor of the drive or computer and download some firmware for the drive . if you let me know what the model and make of your computer is i would be ghlad to assist you.

just shutdown your pc. remove it from the main power cord, from where the pc gets power.check the wiring connection of dvd in your system. either its loose or its not correctly inserted or inserted in wrong socket. connect it.if every thing is perfect, still remove the dvd connection and clean the socket with paint brush.connect it properly and then start you pc it will detect. this is a normal problem .do no worry it will be solved in minites.

HP DVD writer 1140D doesn't recognize DVD's thinks drive is empty. Research on driver versions shows it's using Microsoft drivers. I would like to have the HP drivers to download that came with the DVD but...

all dvd writers have drivers on windows...and are installed automatically when windows is installed..If it started not to recognize dvd-es ...specially the ones burned in data format with multiple movies (avi ) ..even burned on it ...but sees the original ones..or sees the cd'es ..than the issue is with its lens ..and either you need a cleaning disk to clean it up ..or it is gone ...and need to be replaced..I personally have to do with something like this sand tried to update firmware ..installed original driver from the support site ,,and all the same ..Clean the lens and see how it is behaving ..and if it does the same ..just replace it ..cause they do have limited life time..otherwise you will end up with a lot of frustrations and no results...

My Iomega CDRW64001 keeps ejecting my blank CDs. The external LED blinks for several minutes and then ejects the CD with or without a burn program open. It plays recorded CDs and I'm able to install...

Your best solution (since your USB devices and your network-adapter are not working) is to remove the disk-drive from the old computer, and temporarily connect it as a "slave" disk-drive in the new computer, and then copy all your files from "old" to "new".

Or, try a different brand of "blank" CD-R disks -- the "firmware" (software inside the CD-writer) may not be recognizing "newly-manufactured" media). Unless you can update the firmware (by downloading the latest firmware on another computer, and burning a CD-R disk, and then taking that disk to your computer), it's easiest to "move" the disk-drive to the new computer.

try sothink dvd moviemaker software or dvdvideosoft software from www.cnet.com/download.....most dvd recorders will burn (check your manual for the correct type (+ / -) and brand that works best)...but wont let you play on other machines unless you format and the other machine is just as new as the recorder...(our older dvd players will not play these new dvd)

My dvd drive recorder/

A common and annoying problem. This is nearly always caused by a disk that has had an attempt to be burned but did not succeed, The disk is now useless as it has had a tiny fraction of data burned on to it making now impossible to re-use.

If it is a CD/DVDRW, try erasing it first.

I tried to burn my kodak pictures with it and it keeps telling me put a recordable disk in .

There are different grades of cd media. Maxwell is usually a pretty good grade. That said, there are a few things that could cause this. Your drive may be malfunctioning, this could be a bad batch of cd's, or the software you are using to burn disks us having issues with the device drives for the Drive.

The first and most easiest way to troubleshoot this is to try media from somewhere else. If you can use different media and you have no problems, then you have a bad batch of CDs. If it still malfunctions, then you have a bad drive or bad device drivers. You can delete your drive from the device manager and let windows reload it when you reboot. I doubt that i the problem takes little effort to test. Last, you may need to clean your drive. There are inexpensive CD drive cleaning disks available. If all that doesn't work, then you most likely have a bad drive and will have to replace it. Very simple to do. After replacing it, Windows will see it when you turn the power back on.

Sony VGC RB53 wont recognize blank writeable cd/dvd's

Insert a blank CD, try to burn something on to the disk, if that is successfully done than the CD drive is fine, unless you have a problem. Sometimes blank discs don't show up with direct click.

Errors burning to 1x to 16x DVD-R

I have had much luck recording on off brand 16X discs as follows:

1) Record a "dummy" program on the hard drive, need only about 15 or 20 seconds.

2) Put a blank disk in drive, and COPY that dummy program to disk. Do not finalize.

3) After a minute or so, window will come up and say "Cannot
complete copy."

4) Now while above window on screen, click HOME MENU, COPY, New program list, Select your movie/program to copy, go ahead and finalize, and START.

5) Think you'll find this is successful, however there might be some brands of blank disks that won't work.

6)Let me know if it works for ya. JGIDUSKO@CFL.RR.COM
