Many many craftsman mowers have the same problem. if you follow it back it arises from a relay which is attached to all of the safety switches which disable the engine unless everything is working
correctly. so troubleshoot those switches, being simply ON/OFFan ohmeter can do the trick, if they are all good focus on the relay itself. craftsman, husqvarna are all made by AYP or MTD and so are some JD models.

2005 kia amanti cranks then goes dead. No lights on. Some days when cold cranks and runs up to 5k rpm. This morning wouldn't run unless I keep my foot on the gas and brake then it runs fine.

The first thing I would do is check the battery terminals. If they look clean then try twisting the terminal. If you can move it it is loose! With an interruption of power to the Electronic Control Module (the computer that runs your engine) it sometimes has to relearn how to keep the engine running especially in extreme temperatures. That's why you had to keep your foot on the gas. Once the engine warms up it should begin to operate normally.

2004 jeep liberty won't move when put in gear (like brakes are locked).crank it in neutral put in gear it will go till i touch brakes then won't move again.WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS THING.

gear, is this a Manual trans? or AUTO you said gear.
what gear, please name the gear, 1,2,3,4,5 R
or PRNDL ( a/t box auto matic) what shift lever selection?
what is out door air temp, you do know brakes can get wet and freeze right?
it wont go you meant? until brakes are touched, key word won't?

ok engine only starts in PRNDL set to N??
is that it?
and then when you shift to D, the car will not move
what about the other gears.? try them all yet?

my guess (wild) is that you dont know how park lock out works.?
that you must hold the brake pedal down to shift to park or neutral.
is that it? (read operators guide?)

my guess is car is not drive-able. key point1 (a dead car)
point 2, engine starts and runs. and races on demand with gas foot.
point 3, im lost. (no trans stated or clear symptoms.)

my jeep has 6speed manual box
and the clutch allows me to start car.
on Automatics trans must be in park or neutral to crank engine.

"it will go till i touch brakes"

I read that 10 times,
my 2nd guess. the engine stalls ?

IS THAT IT, stalls means engine RPM is 0
and right foot actions are dead.
and all dash lamps glow, telling you STALL is now.

I changed from auto matic to 5speed in a 1990 ford festiva ,andran into a couple of problems,,,not cranking off the key,and fuel pump will not come on with key on but will work through test port, car r

The 2 problems you have may be in same area. Little verbal to describe but here goes. The crank circuit is to be completed by putting your foot on the brake pedal on an automatic and the clutch pedal on a stick shift. The switch on the brake pedal is often called a boo switch and may be called the same when on the clutch pedal. The manufacturers wanted to make sure the car would not run away in gear for both styled transmissions. You foot must be on brake and/or clutch pedal to turn starter over.

The power to the fuel pump needs to flow through a safety switch called an inertia sensor. This part has a reset button on it and it is suppose to disengage on impact. The impact is an inexact science. It can trigger if a door or trunk lid is slammed but usually are reliable. Could be yours just needs to be reset. Then fuel pump would have power again.

Kia Rio 2005 manual, the gear will get stuck and car shakes and stalls on its own when I come to a stop, foot on clutch and brake, in reverse and first gear.

what would happen if you put it in first gear, put your foot on the clutch then try to start the car....of course pick a place where safe!!!...if it rolls forward while cranking ,the clutch plate is touching the flywheel (in other words the clutch all the way down while in gear while cranking, should NOT touch the flywheel(transmission part that makes the car move) so if it moves then it shows the transmission reacts to the clutch touching the other jiggamathig. Possibly clutch system needs bleeding (air in the hydraulic system). I'm sure your car has this thing called a "clutch slave cylinder". Now,this is one thing I would check first.

How can I bypass the starter in my car(manual trans) so it will start? I had the battery checked and it's fine.

  • If the engine cranks ("rrr-rrr-rrr") when you turn the key, then the problem isn't the starter or the battery.Plan to have at least one person sitting in the driver's seat and one or two persons pushing.Turn off all accessories (radio, wipers, lamps).Turn the key to the "on" position.Depress the clutch pedal with your foot.Put the transmission in first or second gear.Release the hand brake and the foot brake.Note that the people pushing need to get the car rolling as fast as they can. This works best down a hill or an incline.Release the clutch pedal while giving the engine a little gas with the gas pedal once the car is moving about as fast as you can run. The engine should start

When weather is hot outside after car runs awhile it stops pulling, idle's fine, continues to run but won't pull when clutch is engaged ?

check hand brake tension , sounds like it is grabbing after heating up, or is the clutch on its way out simple test for clutch , hop in car apply hand brake and foot brake place car in reverse let clutch out slowly ,if car stalls clutch is good if car stays running clutch failure, replace clutch
warning read and do it properly hand brake and foot brake on at all times during test, make sure car is in a well open area, hope this helps
