Have you cycled the power, by unplugging the device for at least 10 seconds?
Have you uninstalled or updated the driver to the latest version?
Have you flashed the printers firmware to the latest version?

  • weinberglaw May 23, 2011

I did pewer down for 10 secs. I also did cleaning mode. I have to use the unversa lHP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v5.2) b/c i cna't get the 2025 driver to work from HP site. I am not sure I am using the latest firmware version. Do you know the number?

  • weinberglaw May 23, 2011

I justed updated firmware, powered off and on and still am getting 4 black ,yellow red bars on test paper

  • weinberglaw May 23, 2011

I did both options and still got same error message. Keep in mind the OLD generic toner does not give me that error when I have it in.
    Any other ideas?
The printer is no longer under warranty

  • weinberglaw May 23, 2011

PS Ship lock was onthe right side of cartridge not left where springs are in the bays

  • weinberglaw May 23, 2011

I had done factory defaults before and did it just now with 2 new cartridges: black and cyan. Cyan is even a NEW HP cartridge! Now BOTH give me the same error message as before re: remove locks.
I just called HP about their HP guarantee on the cartridge and they said it was a printer issue and since out of warranty I needed to pay $40 for tech support and even if they can't help I am out the $.
He said that the co, recommends replacing ALL the cartridges at once but I just replaced the other 2 less than 2 months ago and I don't want to spend another $200 to buy 2 new cartridges.

  • weinberglaw May 23, 2011

I just swapped out the yellow ( which was working fine) with the blue ( cyan) one. NOW it says to remove shipping lock on yellow cartridge!!! What do you think?
Also, after I tried to swap the black HP one out with the yellow it wouldn't fit; but when I returned black one to its correct position I am no longer getting error message!

Try to restore the printer back to the fatory default state.

To perform this function, use the controls on the top of the printer:
Click OK
Arrow over to the Service menu
Arrow over to Restore Defaults
Click OK
The printer will reboot itself and go through a few minutes of initializing/calibrating, and the error will no longer come up.

According to hp it is a faulty spring which you need to reallign.
if this does not help it is a faulty sensor and needs replacement

But here is what i can say is a playaround to the solution and have reported to have worked.
here is what a costumer of mine has to say about it.
"I had same problem and googled it and found this solution
As per above I have swapped the cartridges around
Firstly the message "Magenta in wrong place" came up but
I persevered and swapped around again and after a loooooonnnng
initialization IT WORKED and started printing
Clearly its just something HP have to stop people using compatibles which I guess it qutie common and designed to make you give up and pay the much higher price for originals"

Hi there,
There are some steps that you'd want to try to take care of this problem:
1. Shake the cartridge hard before putting it in or try moving any lever in the cartridge to make sure that the ink flow will be smooth. (emove the cartridge from the printer that is indicated as having the error. Holding one end of the cartridge in one hand and the other end of the cartridge in the other hand. Roll the cartridge forward/back 5-6 times. This will help distribute the toner evenly in the cartridge and may help solve the issue) 2. cleaning the springs on the left side of the cartridge bay with alcohol. These springs are the contacts to the copper colored contacts on the cartridge itself. Since the shipping lock strips are on that side, too. 3. You may want to call HP because it could be a problem with the spring that has been dislodged, if it's still under warranty a replacement might be needed if not then a new one may have to be purchased.
Hope this helps!

If possible you can also try swapping cartridges, swap the cyan cartridge with one that has the same size but does not have any error, yellow, magenta, etc. see if it will tell you that it's the cyan that has a problem. (I'm thinking of a cartridge that has separate bodies for the main colors).

also check for parts of the contact in the cartridge, one website I went to had this experience..here's the link (Click here)

Hi there if you've swapped with the yellow (known good working cartridge) and the error displayed. Try swapping them again, if the error comes back to the blue (cyan) cartridge then it might mean that there is something physically wrong with that slot where you are putting the cartridge in. It might need to be serviced or if you had this printer for a while then getting a new one is also an option.

Replaced Cyan ink and now it will not recognize. Brand new cartidge

Did you use HP ink or generic? Generic inks will only be recognized if they have the chip that talks to the printer. That is not to say they won't work - you just will not know the level. If you did use HP you have to make sure you have removed the taped portions, and that it "clicked" when you put it in the cartridge. Also - double check you really put in Cyan, I have put in the wrong color in a slot and it will not recognize the cartridge - boy did I feel really silly that day!

My printer asks me 10.94.00 remove shipping locks for printer laser jet p4015n

This error occurs if you forget to remove both the shipping tape and the locks from the cartridge. Remove the cartridge from the printer and look for orange tabs. There should be three of them. If they have been removed then you may have a bad cartridge, try installing a different cartridge, if second cartridge fails then likely it is a problem with the printer.

I have a HP Color Laserjet 2025. I recently replaced the color cartridges and when I tried to replace the black toner cartridge I got the message - "remove the shipping lock on the black toner...

My suggestion is to put the 2 cartridges next to each other and look at them as closely as you can. There has to be a difference between the one that works and the ones that give the error.
Something that just occurred to me. Check the slot where the black cartridge sits. Check it for something that could have fallen off the original cartridge and is wedged in the slot. Compare the slot with another cartridges slot.
Because one cartridge works and others don't, it tells me it's a physical(hardware) problem not electrical.

Hp cm2330 remove shipping lock

HP Color LaserJet CM 1312 Series MFP customers may experience a failure during initial printer startup. After installing the print cartridges and powering on the printer they may receive an error condition or error message on the printer’s display. The printer’s orange Attention LED will flash and a Remove shipping lock from XX cartridge message will appear on the printer’s display; where XX represents the black, cyan, magenta or yellow print cartridge or any combination.
SOLUTION: First, verify the print cartridge shipping locks (orange ring attached to the toner as shown below) have been removed from the print cartridge(s) in question. Second, verify the front and back doors of the printer are properly closed. If the shipping lock has been removed, all doors are closed, and the Remove shipping lock from XX cartridge error remains a unit exchange is the recommended solution.
Contact Hewlett-Packard Customer Support. Refer to your warranty/ support documentation for the number to call in your area. Refer to this document’s number (c01677135) with your customer service representative.

Have vertical cyan lines 1 inch wide on same side

Don't know about your "primed" toner, but go to Diagnostics and run the PQ test. See what that looks likes. Go to Disable Cartridge Check and swap the black and cyan toner. Run another PQ test. Are the lines still there and are they black or cyan? If they are cyan, the cartridge is bad. If they are black it's not the cartridge. It going to take a tech to look at it.

I haven't the manual for this printer color laserJet 2600n series,

document.tlSearch.tx.value=unescape("") s.gif s.gif
HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer - Installing Print Cartridges When a print cartridge approaches the end of useful life, the control panel displays a message recommending that to order a replacement. The printer can continue to print using the current print cartridge until the control panel displays a message instructing to replace the cartridge. The printer uses four colors and has a different print cartridge for each color: black (K), cyan (C), magenta (M), and yellow (Y). Replace a print cartridge when the printer control panel displays one of the following messages: Replace yellow cartridge, Replace magenta cartridge, Replace cyan cartridge, Replace black cartridge. The control panel display also indicates the color that should be replaced (unless a genuine HP cartridge is not currently installed). Change the print cartridge
  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Open the front door. c00315320.gif CAUTION: Do not place anything on the transfer belt (ETB), which is located on the inside of the front door.
  3. Remove the used print cartridge from the printer. c00315321.gif
  4. Remove the new print cartridge from the bag. Place the used print cartridge in the bag for recycling. c00315322.gif
  5. Grasp both sides of the print cartridge by the blue handles and distribute the toner by gently rocking the print cartridge from front to back. CAUTION: Do not touch the shutter or the surface of the roller. c00315323.gif
  6. Remove the orange shipping locks and the orange shipping tape from the new print cartridge. Discard the shipping tape and shipping locks according to local regulations. c00315324.gif
  7. Align the print cartridge with the tracks inside the printer, and using the handles, insert the print cartridge until it is firmly seated. c00315325.gif
  8. Firmly close the front door. c00315326.gif
  9. Turn on the printer. After a short time, the control panel should display Ready.
NOTE: If a cartridge is in the wrong slot or is the wrong type for the printer, the control panel will display one of the following messages: Incorrect yellow, Incorrect magenta, Incorrect cyan, Incorrect black.
  10. Installation is complete. Place the used print cartridge in the box in which the new cartridge arrived. See the enclosed recycling guide for recycling instructions.
  11. If a non-HP print cartridge is in the printer, check the printer control panel for further instructions.
NOTE: When replacing or changing a black print cartridge, a cleaning page will automatically print. This helps prevent speckles on the front or back of printed documents. A cleaning page can also be generated using the control panel or the HP Toolbox.

A couple of suggestions. 1. make sure there is not any plastic shipping tabs that need to be removed from the cartridge. 2. try reseating the cartridge. 3. Try replacing that cyan cartridge. It may be defective. Also make sure you use Minolta brand toners!
