Question about Krups XP2070 10 cup Coffee Maker/15 bar Pump Espresso

1 Answer

XP2070 The water is not going to the steam section. Every time I Try the steam button, it makes noise and starts smoking from the dip tray. Also when I try to run water trhough the steam nozzle it goes to the expresso section. Basically, the water is not going to the nozzle at all. Any help would be appreciated.

This happened after I descaled it. It run fine after descaling once. Then when I tried the second time the water would not go to the steam/nozzle section. Also, the water is running longer for the expresso shots. It seems that the programmable length of time for the shots is not working either.

Hi ameliat,

Have you already tried descaling the coffee maker? If not please do and if you already did and still same problem then boil a white vinegar in the unit. If the tube isn't completely blocked, the acid steam will clear it. You can also pre-soak the tube in hot vinegar or boil it in a pan after removing the tube. Also check that there is water in the tank and that the tank is firmly pressed down and try a courser grind of espresso. Run some steam through the nozzle to see if it is working fine. After the steam is ran it will come out unevenly then cool it down. This should help you fix the problem.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

White smoke from BMW 740i exhaust

white were? the exhaust tip, or other spot, long pipe, name spot?
white, is steam or OIL.
oil smells like burnt oil and takes for ever to dispate
steam is water, and smells , sweet due to 50% glycol inside.
and goes away fast.
but all Gas engines make water at all the time running as a by product of combustion and for sure on cold days, some times full time cold
due to climate effects.
does your neighbors car smoke at same time, (look)
bingo , dew point.

all gas engine smoke cold started, (steam)

so first find out what it is,
take the dip stick out of a hot engine. stalled, drip it on the exhaust
see that smoke ,smell it? that is burning oil
now you know what you have, steam or oil. smoke.

When I try to make espresso with my new XP2070, water comes out through the steam arm and not through the nozzles. I've tried it without coffee and all the water still comes out through the steam/hot water...

David, the XP2070 won't operate properly until you've set the clock on the unit.

In case you don't have an owner's manual, I've attached a copy of the manual from the Krups site that you can download and print for free.

Please take some time to reaquaint yourself with the setup and procedure for using the expresso portion of the unit, as you might just have some sequence issues that is preventing the expresso from getting brewed.

Otherwise, it could be that the unit has a faulty seal in the pressure vessel that isn't allowing the expresso side to function properly, hence the reason the water might be coming out of the frothing tube instead of through the expresso brewing section.

'Chugging' noise when trying to get flow of water from steam tube

You must press the hot water/steam button to make sure it is set on hot water. The chugging noise is the pump slowly putting water through the steam boiler for steaming. When you open the steam knob make sure it is all the way open, you will hear the microswitch click when you reach full open(test it out with the machine off). Red light also means heating and low on water, since you are using all the steam faster than it can make it hence the red light.

Saeco Talea Giro no steam or water from spout

I have the same problem as well, talked to a repair shop and it's definitely a "send in" or warranty repair. I was told it's an o-ring issue. I have no water coming out of the steam wand and it goes into the dispense tray instead.

No water through the head!!

I had the same problem - all water going down into the tray at the bottom - virtually none through the coffer basket. I couldn't find citric acid at the store to descale so I used white vinegar instead. I 3/4 filled the reservoir with warm water, and added about 1/2-2/3 cup of vinegar. I first ran water through the 'hot water' button (it comes out the steam spout). Then I ran the entire reservoir through the machine using the 2-cups option. It started running right away. I rinsed out the reservoir with fresh water, then ran a whole reservoir of fresh water through the machine to get rid of the vinegar smell. The first cup of espresso after this treatment was as good as ever. Phew! I thought we were up for a new machine!
