Question about GE JVM1630 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

My GE model # JVM2070SK02 keypad is not working. The fan, lights and boost buttons are working and it is displaying but the keypad seems frozen. Unplugged it but it didn't do anything.

    I put a comment in that probably should have been a clarification. I have the same issue with the same model. At first it was intermittent and now it happens so frequently I need to do something. I removed the control panel assembly. There are 2 circuit boards attached, WB27X10901 and WB27X10900. I don't need either of those?

    to this. I don't need them?

    Actually, WB27X10900 is not attached. I see that now inside. Do I assume WB27X10901 is good?

I hate to bear bad news, but this section of these controllers is not repairable. GE does not make separate parts available so you would have to order the whole control panel subassembly. It is part number WB07X10972 and you can get it for $473.20 plus shipping from the Pros here. Or you can get one from Mel-Co Parts on eBay for "only" $304.25 here. It's actually simple to replace that part yourself. You would remove the control panel assembly as shown in our video here, then remove your smart board and attach it to the new control panel subassembly. If GE will cover parts under warranty or because you contact GE Customer Service, that would be a big plus.

I have a GE Space maker 2.0 model JVM2070SK02 that has three buttons on the lower right vent, boost and light. The light button is pushed up into the microwave. I think there must be a spring behind the...

Hi,
Remove the top grill and on top of the control panel is (1) screw, remove that and gently tap up the control panel to release the panel from the microwave front cabinet. Now as I researched this model, the buttons are part of the panel and are attached to the panel directly. Up may want to replace the microwave as the price is high to replace the panel. Part number is WB07X10972, Good Luck and be safe and unplug this unit before removing this panel.

I have a GE Profile JVM2070sk02 Every thing works and lights up but touch pad will not take any input. Fan ,Boost and light work .

HELLO.

The GE problem is with the magnetron being to close to the computer. If your microwave will not take any input, you can follow these simple instructions to fix it.

needed things.

* Phillips screwdriver
* Foil
* Large ziplock baggie
* Tape

1. Unscrew the 2 screws in the top vent grill and remove it.

2. Unscrew the 1 screw above the computer keypad, then slide it up to unlock it and it will hinge down, revealing the computer circuit board behind the keypad.

3. Put a sheet of foil into the large ziplock bag and seal it up.

4. Then tape it to cover the whole circuit board in the back of the computer. You may have to let the wires stick out of the middle of your foil covering. The ziplock is to keep the metal foil from short circuiting anything on the computer, and the foil protects the circuit board from the small amount of leaking microwaves inside.

5. Lock the keypad back up and plugin the microwave to test it before screwing everything back together.

Thanks.

Not working

It sounds like 2 separate problems:

1) One of the cooktop lights may have shorted. Sometimes this happens and causes damage (repairable) to the control circuit board. Sometimes it will result in the lights or fan not working, or not turning on.

2) You may have a bad magnetron. See this FixYa solution.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Sometimes this will also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.
