It is a Samsung Range, not a microwave.
    Samsung ftq386lwx
I need to lift off the smooth cooking surface in order to access the open door switch which has pushed into the frame.
The surface doesn't seem to just lift up like most ranges
    thanks

  • jimmagnus May 24, 2011

Has anybody actually done this, on this Samsung range?
Is there a service manual that shows the method?

  • jimmagnus May 27, 2011

The user manual doesnt explain how to lift off the cooking surface.
I still haven't received te correct help...

  • jimmagnus May 28, 2011

No the button assembly is pushed in, it doesn't have anything to do with reseting. it's totally mechanical. Doesn't anybody know how top remove the stove top surface on this range????

    getting frustrated....

  • jimmagnus Jun 02, 2011

Ok, let me rephrase the question.
All I want to do is lift off the cooking surface on my:
    Samsung ftq386lwx smooth top range.
It doesn't appear to just lift up like any of the older range styles. I didn't want to force it and break it.
I don't see any screws that look like they can be removed to free the surface. It doesn't show how in the operational manual

You my not have to remove the cook top. Please try turning off the circuit breaker for this appliance in your fuse box (breaker panel). Keep it off for 30 seconds. Hopefully, the unit will reset the interlock device when it goes through the power up routine. You can also unplug the unit if that is easier than tripping the breaker. I do not have instructions to remove your cooktop.

Check for power to the wall plug. Then check for 120Vac at the input to the circuit board power supply. Then check the power across the fuse on the circuit board. if power readings are all correct you have either a bad relay, a door lock that's u/s, or a bad main board. Whats very common with microwaves is the control panels push buttons stop working. Many times its because grease and oil gets under the board and between the buttons and the circuit they activate underneath. To fix it. Unplug the the unit, DISCHARGE the high voltage capacitor. Make your way to the control board button overlay, remove the overlay. clean back of overlay and all contact surfaces on the borard. Re-install and try it again. It many work!

There are door switches and one of them is evidently out of adjustment or the little actuator arm on it is.

How do I clean the stainless steel interior of my electrolux icon microwave

Hello - Interior cleaning after convection, mix or broil cooking:

Spatters may occur because of moisture and grease. Wash immediately after use with hot, soapy water. Rinse and polish dry. Harder to remove spatters may occur if oven is not thoroughly cleaned or if there is long time/high temperature cooking. If so, you may wish to purchase an oven cleaner pad with liquid cleaner within it-not a soap filled steel pad-for use on stainlessor porcelain surfaces. Follow manufacturer's directions carefully and be especially cautious not to get any of the liquid cleaner in the perforations on the wall or ceiling or any door surfaces. Rinse thoroughly and polish dry. After cleaning the interior thoroughly, residual grease may be removed from the interior ducts and heater by simply operating the oven on 450 F for 20 minutes without food. Ventilate the room if necessary.

Interior cleaning after microwave cooking:

Cleaning is easy because no heat is generated to the interior surfaces; therefore, there is no baking and setting of spills or spattering. To clean the interior surfaces, wipe with a soft cloth and warm water. DO NOT USE ABRASIVE OR HARSH CLEANERS OR SCOURING PADS. For heavier soil, use baking soda or a mild soap; rinse thoroughly with hot water. NEVER SPRAY OVEN CLEANERS DIRECTLY ONTO ANY PART OF THE CONVECTION MICROWAVE OVEN.

Microwave is arcing and making a popping noise as if something metal was in there while cooking.

I will assume that you do not have any metal items or bits of tinfoil lying around inside the oven.

If the sparks are happening on the inside of the microwave's cooking area while you are cooking, then make sure you clean the inner surfaces really well. Be sure to remove any cooked on food particles that may have splashed up during cooking.

Most likely you have some corrosion or dried food debris inside the cooking area, or perhaps even some food particles stuck to your WAVEGUIDE COVER PLATE. A dirty waveguide cover plate can certainly cause the arcing and sparking you describe.

If the thorough cleaning does not work, you may need to replace the waveguide cover. Here is a link to a short video that shows you exactly how to replace the wave guide cover yourself:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0xsXjhefy4

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the video at the website indicated.

If the sparks are coming from somewhere other that the cooking area, then your unit may need more significant electrical repairs or service.

I have a kenmore microhood 63684 turned lites on and can't get them to off, when fan button is pushed fan does not start but when lite button is pushed after fan is energized fan starts real slow and...

    Hello,

What this simply mean is that there has been a problem from the fan either from the wire connection or from the Cole of the fan connected to the fan motor.

There are two ways of over coming this type of problem below are the recommendation to solve the problem

First of all set the oven on self cleaning from the below instruction or make use of your owner manual to operate the elf cleaning
Please after the self cleaning you most allow the oven to cool down to it best before opening

Some ovens are self cleaning During the cleaning process, the oven heats up to a temperature of 900 degrees Fahrenheit. The extreme heat cooks off food and spills inside the oven, leaving ash that can easily be wiped out. The oven door locks while it is cleaning to prevent the door from being opened. Self cleaning ovens are better insulated than regular ovens to keep the extreme heat inside.

    1. Read the owner's manual that came with your oven before you perform self cleaning. Although all self cleaning ovens work basically the same way, there may be slight variations for some manufacturers and models.
    2. Take out the oven racks. You need to clean the oven racks by hand, and then put them back in when the oven is done cleaning.
    3. Wipe up any spills and messes inside the oven first, using warm water and a mild soap. Ovens smoke more during cleaning when there is food inside. Wash the inside of the oven door as well. Do not scrub the door gaskets, just gently wipe them off. Damaging the gaskets prevents the oven from sealing.
    4. Lock your oven door manually if your model does not lock it automatically when you clean.
    5. Open a window near the oven for ventilation. There is a certain amount of smoke when you clean the oven. The dirtier the oven is, the more smoke is created.
    6. Turn the control on your oven to "clean" and set the timer for 2 to 5 hours depending on how dirty your oven is, and what the manufacturer recommends.
    7. Wait for the cleaning to finish and the oven to cool before opening door. When oven is fully cooled wipe up any ash inside. If your oven is not completely clean, next time set the timer for longer. If your oven is spotless you might want to see if you can get away with a shorter cleaning time.

SOLUTION 2 IF THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATION DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Then you will have to replace the hole of the fan from the oven i.e the fan is need to be service

    Hope this help?

Thank you and thank for using fixya.
