Spark plug gap for 1997 C1500?


Spark plug gap can affect the life of the condenser if you have a points and condenser ignition. If your car has Capacitive Discharge (CD) ignition, the gap will be OK anywhere between 25 to 30 thou (28 mil is usually optimum). 28 thou on spark plugs is fine for points ignition as well.
If you have a metric feeler gauge, type in "conversion" on your web browser, you will find a number of programs that will convert anything to anything to convert thou (thousandths of an inch) to mm.

You have got to try to remember (or learn) the prefixes used in physical units. Milli means 1/1000 or 10^-3. Kilo means 1000, or 10^3. To convert from mm to meters you have to divide by 1000 because a mm is a 1000 time smaller than a millimeter and 1 mm is 0.001 m or 10^-3 m.
To go from 1 m to 1 kilometer you have to divide again by 1000. So 1 m=10^-3 km=1 km/1000
I leave it to you to figure out how to go from mm to km. It is not difficult and you have got to learn a bit by doing your homework.
Use these two equalities
1 mm = 0.001 m
1 m = 0.001 km
So 15.9 mm =

Both have 70 mm as the widest angle of view, and up to 200 mm as telephoto, while one goes 50% further to 300 mm telephoto range. This means you can zoom in on objects further away than with the 200 mm lens. This is called the focal length of the lens.

The 200 mm offers VR II (second generation of Vibration Reduction) technology, which will allow shooting without a tripod in darker situations than without this technology. This can be a very handy feature if you are in low light situations and don't like to carry a tripod around.

Besides the focal length, a big part of a lens's cost and desirability is how "fast" it is. A lens that has an opening of "f2" is said to be "twice as fast" as one that is "f4". Another way to think of it is that it can allow twice the amount of light into the camera in the same amount of time that an f4 lens can. This means you can shoot in 1/60 sec at f2 as opposed to 1/30 sec at f4 to get the same amount of light in the image. If you don't have a tripod, and you're shooting at 70mm, 1/60 sec is the slowest you can shoot to get a non-blurred image (don't shoot slower than the inverse of the focal length: 70mm = 1/70 sec or 1/60 sec and when zoomed in 200 mm = 1/200 sec - or 1/250 on your camera) The more inexpensive wide angle zooms are often f4.5 - f5.6 and can run several or more hundred dollars. The f2 lenses cost several times more than the f4 - f5 counterparts. This is where the VR technology comes into play. This feature "freezes" the image to allow for an exposure that would be too blurry or otherwise not viewable. You can read a quick article about the differences between VR and VR II for Nikon lenses here. There are others to read, too - so read more than one for more than one opinion.

Another variable, is the coatings. Multi-coated lenses are generally more expensive than single or non coated lenses. Each coating reduces unwanted effects of stray light, etc. that can cause flares on images, etc. You can read more about coatings here.

There are other variables, but those are the main points. You'll have to weigh the differences between the lenses, your intended use for them and cost.

P1740 code came on for a 2001 dodge ram 1500 what does it mean?


This is the OD Solenoid. There is a TSB out that covers the 2000-2001 Ram truck.

46RE Transmission MIL Due To DTC P1740 – TCC or OD Solenoid Performance
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves the replacement of the transmission pressure boost valve cover
plate.
MODELS:
2000 - 2001 (AB) Ram Van
2000 - 2001 (AN) Dakota
2000 - 2001 (BR/BE) Ram Truck
2000 - 2001 (DN) Durango
NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 46RE
TRANSMISSION BUILT BEFORE AUGUST 01, 2000 (MDH 0801XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may complain of a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon
further analysis, it is determined that the MIL is caused by Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)
P1740 - Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) or Overdrive Solenoid Performance. Other than
the MIL, the customer may not notice any other condition with the transmission.
This condition may be caused by an intermittent and momentary TCC disengagement
condition. The transmission valve body pressure boost valve cover plate has been revised
with a larger size orifice hole to address this condition.
DIAGNOSIS:
1. Warm the transmission to normal operating temperatures.
2. Using the DRB IIIò, perform a torque converter clutch (TCC) stall test. The stall test
has been revised so that the TCC remains engaged for a period of four (4) seconds.
NOTE: THE DRB III MUST BE OPERATING AT RELEASE LEVEL 50.4 MDS2
SYSTEM CIS CD2067 OR HIGHER (AVAILABLE THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 2,
2000) IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE REVISED TORQUE CONVERTER
CLUTCH STALL TEST. DO NOT USE EARLIER VERSION STALL TEST TO
DETERMINE CONDITION OF THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH.
3. If the engine stalls as a result of the TCC stall test, then perform the Repair
Procedure.
4. If the engine does not stall, as a result of the TCC stall test, then further diagnosis is
required. The technician may want to consider the following components during
their additional diagnosis: a cut or worn input shaft seals, a missing pump lock-up
circuit check ball, or worn converter hub, input shaft, reaction shaft, and pump rotor.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Clean the pressure boost valve cover plate to remove any dirt or rust inhibitor prior to
installation. The revised cover plate will have a 1.75 mm (0.069 inch) orifice hole
versus a 1.22mm (0.048 inch) orifice hole in the original plate. Make sure it is clean.
2. Using the appropriate Service Manual, Group 21 – Transmissions and Transfer Case,
replace the transmission pressure boost valve cover plate p/n 04617012.
3. Verify fluid level after warming up the transmission and cycling the shift lever several
times.
4. Verify, and if required, adjust the transmission shift linkage and the transmission
throttle valve cable per the appropriate Service Manual procedures.
