Question about Vacuums

I have a Steam Glide 2200 which has suddenly stopped working. It ran out of water, I re-filled it and the iron will not heat up. The base lights all seem to be working but the Iron itself does not even light up. Do you have any suggestions please. Thanks Chris

It was refilled immediately as it always is. You cannot operate the iron without water

as it emits a warning. I am pretty sure this is not the problem.

    any more suggestions?

    Kind regards

    Chris

I took the iron apart but couldn't find the fault.. I have taken it to the repair shop and the problem is the thermal fuse has blown. I have left it with them to repair.
    Kind regards

When it lost the water the heating resistance overheated and burned. When that happened the electrical circuit inside the entire iron went out - this is why the unit lights don't come on.
To fix it you should replace the soleplate of the iron, the one that has the resistance embedded in it. But i don't think this is a cost-wise option: the part and the necessary labor would cost more than a new unit.

The iron has a very simple construction it's composed of just 3 electrical elements: power cord (not it, you still get some lights on the base), a simple control board with a thermostat (it might be broken but i doubt it - it's very reliable) and a resistance. As you can see the most likely part to have failed is the resistance. That's easy to check: you just dismantle the unit and you measure the resistance with an ohmmeter - all beyond 100 ohms and the resistance is defective.

2 screws to remove the back platter (some gentle prying will be needed), followed by 2 bolts that secure the soleplate to the body then the body unclips to give you access to the plate - be careful here as to not rip apart the electrical connectors or break the fitting clips on the body.

    OK.

That fuse blows only when there's a fault - either the soleplate overheated or there has been a short. Ask them to find what happened.

Suddenly stopped steaming, tank filled steam light stays on, no steam but heats up? Problem solving in manual just states the obvious? Can you suggest anything else or will I have to contact Hoover

Perhaps Element not heating to full temperature to generate steam.
Temperature sensor may be faulty if element is ok.
1 Element or 2 ????

Sorry... No magic fix button

Open it up and start testing things.
a multimeter comes in handy here.

or

Good Luck

Why won't my bissell steampower spray water anymore?

Steam Irons and carpet machines should be filled only with distilled water. Repeated use of tap water can lead to mineral build up, clogging the tubes and vents. Using white vinegar instead of water can dissolve the minerals over time (fill and let sit) the best method is to disassemble the unit and clean the heating elements and all water baring parts.

My steam glide russell hobs iron pours out water when used I have burnt my self a few time. It also leave the garment very wet.

Many persons put too much water in a steam iron.
Make sure that you do not fill it all the way to the brim.
Try using less water in the tank.
This may also solve your wetness problem.

How do I clean my iron?

I am assuming that you have scale or lime build up on your iron. Make a solution of half white vinegar and half distilled water. Pour it in the water container on your iron. Turn your iron on its highest setting and set for steam. Wait about 15 minutes and turn off the iron. When water cools pour off the remaining water/vinegar solution. Fill the iron with distilled water and turn on. Let it heat and then cool then pour off that solution. Do this till the poured off water runs clear. If you have scale on the bottom of the iron you can clean that with an old toothbrush dipped into warm white vinegar. There may be easier ways to do this but this is eco friendly and it works the best of anything I have tried.

Run white vinegar through the iron over the sink with iron on high & steam button pressed down. This should dissolve any minerals that build up in it. Then run water through it over the sink to rinse the vinegar out.

Theres water pouring out of my t fal iron's little holes when I begin to iron my shirt...why!

The iron needs to be cleaned as I have just discovered myself. I have a hinari and the instructions are as follows. Fill the water tank and turn the iron on to medium. When heated press the steam button and hold it over the sink or a container so that the water can run out of it. It will take sediments with it. The cleaning of the iron should be carried out once a month.

I experienced the same trouble and carried out the instructions and all is well again.

Prolectrix 3 tier steam

Is the unit spraying ok? If not then the heater may be plugged. Other than that, you should fill the tank with hot tap water, the the heater will only heat it alittle more, you won't really see steam.

Hi you need to put 5ml of Kal Stop fo Polti machines into 1000/1500ml of water into the tank, The stronger solution is better (1000ml) Let it heat up and this should break down the limescale on the solenoid. I tried this today and it has worked saving ££££'s in repair by Polti.
