Yes its quite possible that right side cover sensor is either stuck up or got broken so the copier is not sensing that cover closed and its indicating you to close the cover.Open the right cover and see on that cover you will see some extended plastic parts. That plastic parts trigger the sensor in the copier when you close it.The sensor will be in the copier side and extended plastic parts will be on right cover side.So That plastic depress the sensor in the copier when you close the cover. So check where this plastic enters the copier. There will be the sensor.---------Many a times sensor will be just getting stuck up and needs to be re aligned .But some times sensor gets broken, so in that case it needs to be replaced. You can try pressing that sensor with a tooth pick also. The sensor just needs to be depressed.Once the sensor is depressed down the cover will be detected as closed. Some times there are more then one sensors that get depressed when cover gets closed.------------ Try this. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Till the sensor is not in its place, the machine will not detect door closed.Open the drawer door and blow air blower on the inner side of the machine when door drawer closes.Blow air for few minutes, may be that will blow the dust or any other obstacle causing the sensor to block.------
    this should help.thanks.helpmech.

The sensor gets power from board. The function of sensor is controlled by board. But getting the board checked is not easy task. You will need good testing tools and even testing skills. Most probably, in your case it seems that sensor is got cracked or bent and so its missing.Get the sensor replaced by local printer / copier repair techs.Because getting to the board means disassembly of the copier.Board is a costly part and has several components on it.If the components fail or any part gets short on board, then it will be costly repair. Its advisable to get sensor checked and replaced by local printer/ copier repair tech.-------- This should solve the issue.Thanks.Helpmech.

Paper jam and no paper jam

Probably paper never being picked up and not feeding out of cassette which explains why you see a jam indicated but cannot find a jammed paper. Probably time to rebuild the cassettes.

Paper jam in canon printer mx432

I took Ekse suggestion to start off with by turning off the printer; opening the front cover and removing the ink cartridges. Behind where the color cartridge goes is a light blue wheel. I took a letter opener and gently tried to move it. It moved and after a few turns it loosened the paper and I was able to gently removed the whole sheet of paper. I'm by far a techy but have been known to take care of paper jams. This little machine had me baffled because the back was of no use like other machines.

Paper light flashing

What worked for me was to clean the drumunit; take the toner out of the drum unit and clean between the plastic housing and the drum. Dust heaps up and presumably makes the toner rotate more difficult.
I just used a piece of folded paper and blew the rest out..

Canon PIXMA MP160 showing paper jam, but none

just recently had these problems
LED flashing E3 code and alarm light was solid. But dissapeared when opened the coved and came back on when closed the cover.
Also the when the cover was open the inks did not slide out to the left and stayed to the right side.
There was no paper jam, but error said paper jam.

1. I took a thick piece of paper, from like a paper folder ones, thick enough to go in the printer and not curl up when pushed..
2. turned off the printer and turned it back on.
3, while printer was turning on,and makings sound as it does normally when turning on, I pushed through the piece of paper and the rotors stoped for a millisecond.
4.the rotors started again and pushed out the paper by it self with out my force.
5. I let the printer get started. and then turned it off and then on.
6. this solved all of my problems.
this was the first problem ever with this printer in 3 years.,preety good printer.

good luck...

MF-8170C REC. PAPER JAM and Open Cover

Get a thick piece of paper and feed it in to the printer following the paper path the best you can until you get the piece of paper you can't see out of it.
