Open Question

I bought an ICOM model IC732 HF radiotransciever which I use for my amateur use. the problem is that the display becomes erroneous with the figures not being displayed completely. the LED display only half or one fourth the full. example on the frequency figures a 0 is displayed C of an 8 is 6 or 9. the LED is not fully lighted or not functioning normally. can you please help me on this. Thank you. respectfully yours Gerry Villahermosa/DU7DQE

SOURCE: Picture full of lines and flicker

Zdenko did an excellent job. Voltage regulators and the capacitors on the main boards and in the power supplies are always suspect. Some times you can narrow down the culprit buy purchasing a can of freeze spray. Let the TV warm up and try freezing suspect components to see if this causes a reaction. Thermal problems can often be found in this way.
Of course, if you're not able or willing to replace components on the circuit boards, you can always replace the main board or power supply board after determining which is causing the problem. These parts should be available at your local Viewsonic service provider at a reasonable price.

SOURCE: hello -need help with phone

Hi Nick,

There are no intensity adjustments I know of, and from my experience if the backlight is still working, but you get no display, it is either a bad display, or many times corrosion or a broken solder joint/component. I wish I could help you correct the problem with a few pushes of a button but not in this case. We do fix those models, you can check us out at www.cordlessrepair.com Thanks, CG

Does it have an external speaker plugged in the back? If so try unplugging it see if the internal speaker works, if it doesnt have an external speaker plugged in try one, maybe the internal speaker went bad from moisture.

I have an Icom v-8000 radio. The TX is very good with 75 watts out-put. But have nothing in RX.No signal and no audio.

Hi,
What you have is an amateur band radio, which requires you to be a licensed operator to use it. It is possible that the frequencies have been removed from the eeprom prior to your purchasing same.
You can have Rx only frequencies programmed by an authorised 2-way workshop, but until you become a qualified amateur operator, you will not be able to get Tx frequencies programmed.

For licensing info for Amateur operators visit www.vk6wia.org.

How can i do a factory reset on an icom ic-706, basically i want to clean it all off and have it like it came out the factory, it this possible??

Hi Paul,

The best I can come up with is Try this: join yahoo group Specific to your radio Make/Model, the experts there will help you with useful info and you can download manuals, schematics and software, if available, for your radio and all this is free.

I hope I have been of assistance to you.

Peter

What's the channel frequencies for a common 22 channel motorola 2 way vhf radio?

Not sure what you want.....VHF band ius approximatly 130mhz to 175 mhz..... in that VHF band there is a commercial VHF band aprox. 155 mhz to 175...... the amateur radio vhf band is aprox. 135 to 150mhz.

With amateur radio, any freq in that range can be used...... with commercial radio the FCC cangive a company any freq. in that range also.

If you are looking for FRS/GMRS frequencies they are UHF freqs not VHF.

So I'm not sure exactly what you want......sounds like you might want to program in FRS freqs into an Icom amateur radio. If thats  the case you will need an Icom that will do UHF freqs.
