Question about Drills

Open Question

DeWalt D25303/4K Clutch slips too easily under light torque in rotary mode. Hammer action working ok but chuck is not locking in position when in hammer only (chiseling) mode. New clutch assembly needed or is it simpler than that?

My dewalt dc223 has a normal chuck on it but no sds chuck.. will this stop the hammer or is it broken?

If someone replaced the chuck the hammer part likely failed and it's a normal drill now, the hammer function would destroy a regular chuck.

How do I remove the screw holding the keyless chuck. Dewalt cordless 18v hammerdrill, I know it's reverse thread but it still will not come out. Is there a locking mechanism?

sometimes I have had to use an impact tool to shock the screw loose, what you might try is to tighten the chuck more and then remove. there is no locking mechanism that I know about. also I would recommend going to Dewaltservicenet.com and downloading a manual/breakdown for this before starting.

Removing the chuck on a dewalt DC925 cordless drill.

I just changed the chuck on my 18 volt xrp half inch hammer drill, yes first you must remove the torx screw with #15 torx bit, note this is a left handed thread screw, knowing the bad chuck was bad I added some heat from a propane torch to the chuck then making sure it was in 1st gear i took some vise grips and the chuck is screwed on with normal right handed threads,it broke loose (was stubborn but needs a lot of torque )ahhhhhh wat a pain.

Hammer drills and rotary hammers comparison

Basically yes. Lower power units are usually titled as "hammer drills." Higher power units, usually labeled "rotary hammers," tend to be larger and provide bigger impact forces. But there are a few differences that are worth knowing: The rotary hammer usually have a chisel only feature, for light chiseling and masonry removal. Rotary hammers also have specially designed chucks that only accept bits specifically designed to fit their chuck. The special chuck on a rotary hammer helps hold the drill bit and prevents it from slipping during use.
