i think I may have knackered my dryer up - went to take load out this morning and realised I had forgotton to empty the condenser tank last time. Washing was still wet so switched it on again after emptying tank. It came on but sounded like water was swishing around inside...and then it tripped my electricity circuit and water started running slowly out from under the bottom....Help!

Hi,

I have had a similar problem, my wife tried drying clothes that were too wet, causing the machine to flood. Even though she emptied the tank, the empty water light was always on!!

What I did was take the electrical plug out and tip the machine to one side, you probably will find there will be a collection of water in the base, which will leak out. Once you think you emptied it, plug it back it back in and try it.

It worked for me!

I have an old Philips 670 dryer that does not have a vent hose.In the back there's a round plate that can be removed (looks like where the vent hose should be attached). When i turn the dryer on i noticed...

Is there a drawer on the front that fills up with water?
If so there is no need to vent it as the water collects there. The vent is to let the water vaporise but if you have a drawer then you don't need to vent. The cover is for people who want to buy the vented option so they can fit it in a utility room and permanantly have it airing out the building. But then there would be a blanking plate where the drawer would be.

Hi mervyn2011
Sounds like you have a bearing problem or drum roller/slide problems.
You will need to take the dryer apart to determine which problem it is.

My dryer is leaking from the bottom. service man said either the tube or the pan is cracked. tube seems ok, so is the pan replaceable or glueable. could there be another reason to look for leak. dryer has...

Open the bottom front panel. Remove the heat exchanger. Take notice to see if theres any water in that compartment. Reach your hand towards the back of that opening to see if there is water pooling back there. If theres water present, then your condensation pump needs to be replaced.
also double check the connection of the drain hose from the dryer to the drain.

You probably have a broken belt. You have to remove the shell and reroute the belt. You can do it yourself for bout 20 bucks...Good luck. Look in your manual for proper routing of the belt. good luck.
