Hi, I just got an APC 40 and I have it plugged in to my laptop by USB and I have a pair of active monitors connected to the laptop. With this setup I cannot use my headphones for pre-cue when mixing. I understand I need to have a mixer in between the Laptop and my monitors but my question is: is there any specific features that the mixer needs to have, for this function to work? I have seen some different mixers online and I was wondering if something like a BEHRINGER XENYX 502 would do the job or if I have to use an actual DJ mixer as a Pioneer DJM. I am using Traktor Pro 2 and Ableton Live 8 with the APC. Looking forward to hear from you. Cheers, Bruno Farinha

the outputs in Traktor should be set up like this; Chanel 1 (3&4) Chanel 2 (2&1) this set up will give you a stereo sound coming out of Traktor using Numark DJ IO. Make sure the output is set up External and the Audio Devise is Numark DJ IO.

Check if the Mbox2 has an echo setting that echos the audio from its input. If you want the audio to loop through the PC then it will have to echo there instead. Check that in "Sound and devices" of the PC are all set to transfer via the MBox for voice and playback instead of the internal PC audio system.

Go to the Behringer website and then the product page for the mixer. On that page are links to the manual, spec sheet and something called view sheet. The "view sheet" has a wiring diagram and a list of the effects.

What can I do about my flood-damaged monitors?

I would strongly suggest putting an insurance claim and replacing them. Water damaged cabinets may swell and come unsealed over time, as well as the speakers themselves and the electronics degrading faster than you might expect.

How do i connect my keyboard and my laptop?

Download USB MIDI driver for yamaha from yamaha website, and install to laptop.
Next:
Make sure the POWER switch on the instrument is set to OFF,then use an AB type USB cable to connect the instrument to the laptop.
After making the connections, turn on the power of the instrument.
Laptop will immediately notify that new hardwares is connecting and automatically install the drivers. Wait until the process is finish.
Thats all. In Ableton, the setting MIDI input must be set to USB MIDI.

Not working anymore after I plugged in I have heard some electric noise.

Wild guess but if not powering up, possible that fuse blew (if no external, then there's often one on the power board), or something blew in power supply...check for blown filter capacitors (the larger ones, for leaking, or blown/bulging tops), burnt resistor, or bad diodes.

Right monitor has stopped working, left still works

Electrical parts were bad, I returned the speakers for replacement under warranty. FYI... I opened the back and noticed an electrical burn smell.

Akai apc 40 is squeaking when turning on. the squeak changes in order how many LED are on. is not the power suppyl. it comes direct from the power plug in just next to the usb port...

You may have a zener diode failing, or just plain noisy on the power input board. If you are not using the original power supply, this may be why- the voltage may be a little higher than the design planned for.

If you open up the unit you may hear the noisy component with a drumstick held to one ear with the other end touching ecah component in turn until you find the most noisy component- then replace it.

Apc 40 squeak

It could be feedback, it could be inductive noise. Try different cables because a shield wire may be brokin in the set you are using currently.

hi,
this mixer has output's from cd/tape(rca plug) that can be used to connect an additional amp for output to a sub. It is designed to use for recording but may also server as a pre-amp output to an external amp of choice.

Right speaker quit working after 6 months

swop the speakers overs this will tell you weather it is the speaker or the amp. if the speaker then it has blown or the crossover unit has blown. the crossover unit splits the signal to the bass /middle and top frequencies. if you want an easy way out after you have checked the speakers/amp by swoping them just go and buy a new pair but make the sure they are the same impedance as the old pair as you can easily damage the amp

I have four active and two passive speakers how do i hook up to amp

Assuming they are ALL mains and not for monitors connect this way:

Connect the passive to the A and B powered outputs. Please read my tip on Fixya regarding hazard of grounding speaker leads on channel A of PMP mixers.

Connect each pair of active speakers to the Main L and R 1/4 inch jacks using TRS balanced cables. Power these speakers from the SAME receptacle or source, even if it means running an extension cord to your mixer from where the actives are plugged in. FAILURE to do this creates a hazard of ground loops and ground bounce that can damage equipment. The Main L and R 1/4 inch jackls can drive more than one active speaker... these are line level signals. Make sure to use TRS balanced cables for this.
