Have a Sony Bravia KDF-50E2010 rear projection tv. Will not switch on, blank screen, flashing red light. What is wrong and will it be expensive to rectify. thanks.

Unfortunately from the description it sounds like the bulb has died. The red light is the customary indicator of a dead bulb. Usually you will get a warning from the TV but that is only a timer based warning and doesn't reflect the actual bulb life.
These are not cheap bulbs but you can find some excellent deals on-line if you search the model number of your TV in your search engine. I would caution you against anything that is "remanufactured" or "rebuilt" as these have questionable reliability and generally a shorter life span which will negate the cost savings.

I had a different problem with a different model. My HSDI ouput stoped working. I went to SONY Live Chat with service tech. and he had me download new software to my BRAVIA and it fixed the problem. I would check it out. Go to http:esupport.sony.com.

I have the tv stated sony kdf-50e2010 and when i turn it on the screen comes up but after about 20seconds it turns off and the light flashes red green can you help


You may want to check/replace the lamp before doing anything else. it will give you this kind of symptom.

there seems to be a possibility that your ballast might defective.. i recommend you replace it. It might not have enough voltage to keep up with the new lamp

If this is a rear projection lcd tv then yes it is the lamp, yes it is easy. no need to reset. and yes this is common, lights last around 2000 hours
