Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

During the spin cycle the water was not draining and the machine was making a tremendous amount of noise. I removed all of the wet clothes and was able to drain the water during spin without the clothes in there. I don't think that it's the pump because the water wouldn't drain out, right? Does this machine have a belt that might be broken?

Would a broken belt cause this particular problem? My machine is the Kitchen Air Quiet Care 11 cycle 3 wash / spin combination. Where would I find the belt?

  • rricci371 May 23, 2011

The water did drain when I removed the clothes and turned on the spin cycle. Do you still think that it could be the pump?

  • rricci371 May 23, 2011

No, it was like the sound of an angry dinosaur. It was really awful.

Do all washing machines have a removable back panel so that I can see if it's the belt?

Thank you rickyt. You supplied me with information I can use when I check the machine out tonight. You helped me quite a bit. I only hope that the problem is something mino and not major. Thank you.

If the water is not draining, it can be the pump. The pump pumps in water and pumps it back out. You could have a bad lid switch. The lid switch can cause the washer to not work right. You could have a clog in the hoses or the water pump itself. You need to check it also.

You may have something blocking the release hose. Since it drained when you removed the clothes, probably not the pump then.

Was the noise during the spin cycle Rricci?

I am beginning to think it may be the motor drive. The motor controls the spinning, agitation, and the draining process. Usually, if there is loud noises during the spin cycle, it is either the motor drive or the spin bearing causing the noise.

Some can be accessed through the back panel and some you have to take the top off. If yours doesn't have a back panel, you will have to take the top off.

Most Kenmore washers do not have belts. If you can't get into the back, go into it from the top. I believe it only has two screws to take loose on the corners of the display.

Behind the washer is a plastic hose that enter the drain.Make sure that nothing is pinching it closed. You can also use drain cleaner in the drain but not in the machine.

Wont adavace after wash cycle like its stuck replying back

Hi just read your posting. The problem appears to be your drain pump is either blocked or faulty. If you would like I can guide you throe the removal of the pump. The reason it does not reach full spin speed is there is still water under the bowl slowing it down.It is impossible to drain the machine by hand completely. Please reply If you require extra help on the pump removal.

Won't drain. Won't spin.

Sounds like there's a blockage in the drain hose, or the pump. There could be a coin jamming the pump impeller. If the clothes are wet it's got to be a drainage problem...Good luck....Nomess

The water runs during the spin cycle. The clothes

Does the water run through the ENTIRE spin cycle? There is a period where the water will run during the spin; This is called, the "Final Rinse". But it usually only runs for about 10 seconds then stops.

WASHER MAKES A HUMMING NOISE IN SPIN CYCLE BUT DOESN"T SPIN & CLOTHES ARE SOPPING WET.

what's the brand name and model number, all washers are different, most likely it's the motor humming or the pump is humming, could have something stuck in pump,if the water doesn't drain the washer won't spin,if you have a shop vac pull the drain hose out of stand pipe or sink, stick the shop vac hose onto the drain hose, get it down as low as you can and suck out the water and then see if it spins,if there's alot of water in the tub suck it out of the tub first then go to the drain hose,if it spins when water is out you know it's the pump but if you say water is still in tub i would have to say it is the pump,

Excess water in clothes after spin cycle

Unblock the outflow pipe from the machine that goes into the sump under the sink. (have a pot ready for water overflow) This will help drain the water. If the spin cycle is making a screetching sort of noise then it is possible that the carbon brushes will need changing. This affects the spinning if the brushes are worn.

My Bosch Nexxt Essence front load washer is making a knocking and squeaking noise during the whole spin cycle. It sounds like it's coming from the drum mounts - what should we do?

My Bosch Nexxt Essence front load washer will not drain. I changed the lint filter, and insured that the drainage hose was free of debris. I removed all the wet clothes, wrung out the excess water, and redistributed the clothes. Still, no draining or spinning. Initially there was a humming sound, but now there is no sound at all when I try to restart the drain or spin cycles. All the lights are appropriately "on".

Clothes too wet upon cycle completion...

Try reducing the amount of low sudsing detergent you are using. This can make the load too heavy and won't spin out. Remember suds have 3 parts, air, detergent, and water. The drain pump is designed for water, so if you see suds during the wash, it will be worst on warm and hot, then there is too much detergent, or is not low sudsing. I know Bosch reccommends HE, however HE liquids normally are not low sudsing, just High Engery. Also the Permanent Press cycles are always a lower spin speed. Hope this helps
