2006 yamaha bruin will not start by push button. Battery is fine, all lights come on but when button is pushed nothing happens

Hi. Depending on your skill level the starting point would be check "ALL" the fuses with a test light/multimeter. Next point would probably be check the starter itself, Again with a test light or multimeter you should have the main positive to the starter - make sure you have good battery voltage and check this whilst attempting to crank. Then the crank feed itself which is the small wire to the starter solenoid, Again check for good voltage whilst attempting to crank. If there is voltage on both then make sure the starter has a good earth by using the starter motor body as the earth whilst testing the main feed at the starter. If you have good main feed and crank the starter has failed. If not you need to post your test results for further help, Jon

1200 suzuki bandit, won't button start, will push & jump start, checked fuses

Try pulling the switch open, and clean the contacts, or make sure everything still connects as it should.
Check your connections at the starter and solenoid.

My brother just replaced the starter in my 2000 escalade and now it won't start...I seem to remember there was some kind of kill switch or button to push after the alternator was replaced... where is...

There is no "KILL" switch. something isnt hooked up correctly. or a relay is bad/ fuse? I hope the starter wasnt replaced for no reason? Be sure IGN A fuse is good,(under hood fuse box) CRANK fuse, (in dash fuse panel), STARTER RELAY (in under hood fuse box) , battery good? connections tight? shifter in PARK?

When i press start button nothing happens

First check your main fuse on the starter solenoid and the fuses on the fuse block if the the lights on the bike do not power up. If the fuses are good and there is no power try charging the battery, then take it in to an auto store or motorcycle dealer and have the battery load tested to make sure it has enough power to turn the starter over. If the battery is good then, push the starter button you should hear a click , so you know the button is working. Follow the positive battery cable to the starter solenoid. Disconnect the two wires that activate the solenoid, test the two wires from the harness make sure the needle on your voltage meter jumps when you push the starter button, this means the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together. If your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , the manufacturer does not make replacement parts for the starter. If the starter is spinning but the motor is not turning over then you have a problem with the one way clutch inside the motor. On the flywheel is a one-way clutch. It matches to a large starter gear that turns the motor over. If the smooth surface on the large starter gear has become chattered/no longer smooth the you will need to replace it and the three rollers in the starter clutch to make the starter grab and turn over the motor.

I push the electric start button not a sound what could be wrong

Check to make sure the battery is fully charged and that the fuses are all good. If you push the starter button and the solenoid clicks, the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together, if your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , unless the manufacturer sells replacement parts so you can repair the starter. most manufacturers only sell replacement starter brushes.

Gentlemen, I have a 1979 580c backhoe, proud owner for 3 weeks now. But it won?t start. Here's what I've done so far. 1.checked the starting circuit, the neutral switch is good. 2.I have continuity...

It sounds like you have a bad starter. You can try bringing 12v direct to
the starter just to be sure(be sure it's in neutral) or use a volt meter at
the starter while somone turns the key. You have checked the wire's
and all appears to be ok, the only thing left that would draw the meter
into the red is the starter itself. I hope this helps.

How to bypass the starter relay and put it to a push button to start the car

A wire run from the starter solenoid postive (+) terminal to a button somewhere on the dash panel is all that is required You need to connect the other side of the press button to a power source under the dash. The fuse box is a good place to start. Make sure your wiring is protected against shorts by a fuse. If the vehicle is an auto, don't do this. Get the inhibitor switch replaced instead.

Yamaha big bear 400 will not start wilth electric started will start fine with pull start has comp, fuel and spark

Sounds like a problem with the starter, could be a starter fuse, relay or solenoid. The start cicuit wiring could also be damaged. If you can pull-start the motor, and it runs fine, you have pretty much eliminated any problems with the motor. Check the wires running from the start button make sure they are intact, also trace them and look for around a 1" cubed black box. This is the relay, when you push the button, if its working, you will feel the box click. Also locate the starter and do the same thing. If you feel or hear the starter click, the solenoid is working. The battery voltage could also be too low to energize the starter motor. Could also be a battery or alternator issue. Check the battery voltage and for any sounds coming from the bike when you push the start button.
