Will not focus on close-ups

When I first bought this camera, I could take a photo of somethign close up and it would focus. Now I can't take a picture of anything close up with or without zoom. I'm trying to sell my coin collection and can't get one photo.

My M1063 camera does not focus, even in timer mode and using a tripod the photos are out of focus. I get good pictures only in close-up mode. Is there anything wrong with my camera?

It sounds as if your camera is in close-up mode, where it only focuses on close-up objects. Try putting it into one of the other modes. What happens then?

Camera will not focus correctly. when shutter button is pushed half way down the picture goes blurry, and if you take the photo it actually turns out blurry.

If you are taking close up photos, you might have to use the "macro" setting. The auto focus only works down to around 5 or 6 feet I think. I have an earlier model of that camera. I use mine for normal use and also close up for work related photos.

How do you take macro photos

Your lens is the limiting factor to take macro photos, the kit lens provided with you camera won't focus very closely, nor it will have decent magnification. There are special purpose macro lenses which can stretch up to and over $1000 for a decent quality one. Tamron's 90mm f2.8 is probably the best value one.

A tripod will be of benefit too, as it slows down the process, so you think about your composition, use manual focus and a small aperture for better depth of focus (field).

Close-up photos always end up out of focus.

Use the close-up mode by pressing the button with the flower (tulip) icon until that icon shows on the screen. Place the camera on a tripod or solid surface to make sure it is steady.
