Question about Ricoh Aficio SP C820DN Laser Printer

I have a new Ricoh C820DN printer. Did about 12k prints fine and now doesn't seem to print Cyan toner on the bottom half of page (all colors work fine at top of page but at the bottom, anything that uses Cyan doesn't seems to drop the cyan color). I've changed all toners and PCU, fuser, transfer units all seem fine. Any suggestions? Thanks

    I've tried 3 different Cyan toners (2 brand new and 1 that cme with the printer which had been working fine until the problem occurred). Also don't think that there is an issue with the toner not being inserted properly

    Toners are fine (I've tried 2 new cyan toners) and nothing obvious that would indicate that they have not been inserted properly

Hi,

According to your problem, first check the cyan tonner is not get damp. Clean the cartridges and make sure that the cartridges are installed properly. Check the paper tray installed correctly and it pull the paper properly. Finally check your paper status like the papers which you use print are not damp, wet or curl. Use to try another new good quality paper.

    Reset the printer and set proper resolution compatible with your document. check the page setup. reinstall the cyan cartridge after cleaning.

It might be the Cyan toner cartridge which is defective or not properly insert. If toner cartridge is faulty, just replace it with new one. If not correctly installed the Cyan toner, sometimes it will not work well or cause problem when printing that color. If you have the old Cyan toner, try it.

could be black developer unit or pcu / try printing something from doc feeder or platen glass in each single color and see if you have same problem. If other color prints find then will narrow down to items above

check your printer preference setting in computer driver you will see default set to black and white. select doc then select printer goto printer preference and select color

HP 4700 not printing cyan


If your printer is missing a color it could be caused by (off the top of my head) 3 possibilities.
1. High voltage board
2. laser/scanner assembly for that color
3. DC controller might need a firmware upgrade, www.hp.com
Run the PQ diagnostics, check the cyan color
Run the Cartridge Disable diagnostic. Remove all cartridges and take the black cartridge and insert it where the cyan normally is. If the black prints in the cyan slot, your cyan cartridges are bad. If the black doesn't work then go to #3 above. It won't cost any money to upgrade the firmware. If it still doesn't work call in a printer tech.
At this point you may need a printer tech.

Excess cyan toner is on electrostatic transfer sheet even after wiping it. All black and white pages are printed with cyan background.I am even using original cartridges.


Since you have Cyan toner in places where it should not be then the only possible cause is a defective Cyan Toner cartridge. I worked on one just last week where the customer complained about Magenta toner on their prints. I also noticed Magenta toner on the Transfer Belt just as you see Cyan toner on the Transfer Belt. I replaced the Magenta Toner Cartridge and everything cleared up nicely. The Transfer Belt Unit can also cause similar problems but it would not be ONLY one color like Cyan. It would be a mixture of all colors. My bet is replace the Cyan toner and you will be fine. If you have an old empty one just shake it up a bit and try it as well. This might allow you to verify before buying a new cartridge.

Aficio CL1000N Printer: On my Ricoh aficio CL1000N it says add toner Cyan....


If I remember right, the CL1000 won't print if any of the 4 colors are out. You have to replace the cyan toner in order to print, even in black and white.

If you haven't tried already, you can try taking the cyan toner out and shaking it up (just a little bit) to try to get the printer to find the little bit of toner left in the bottle.

Seems to print a red or yellow line down the edge about 1 to 2mm wide, prints black fine. All toners over half full. Test page seems fine but can see red line along edge.


What ever color the line is you need to replace that photoconductor unit. They can be ordered from a Ricoh dealer and come with instructions for installing.
