Question about Televison & Video
Found this PVY5263RK on the curb, cleaned the screen/mirror/CRTs and got a decent picture out of it... the convergence is different on each CRT, the red is the furthest out, it looks like it is rotated a few degrees CCW around screen center. Tried to find a setting for rotation or pincushion in the service menu and accidentaly blacked out the 'RGB Contrast' or 'RGB Brightness' and now I can't see the menu alphnumerics to fix the setting. Catch-22, need to see the text to adjust the text brightness...
I thought a factory reset might get me out of this issue, I'll probably get a kit for the convergence problem.
Is there a jumper setting or key combo to force a factory reset?
The only was to perform a 'factory reset' is to reload the firmware from the manufacturer.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

SOURCE: Blue convergence
if the problem as atated only needs rotation, then your need to turn the yolk on the blue tube. you will have to slightly loosen the screw that hold the yolk. rutate it the proper way to get it aligned with the other colors. retighten the screw, but do not over tighten, you do not want to break the tube. ALSO make sure that you do not move the yolk UP or DOWN. if so the blue picture will be resized. down the picture goes smaller, up the picture gets bigger. good luck.

SOURCE: Poor color issues.
If the set is 10 years old, one or more of the CRT's (picture tubes) may need to be rebalanced in a process called white balancing. If the tubes are in good shape this can be accomplished with great ease. A good tech will then reset the focus and screen adjustments to obtain an optimal picture. I personally own a 16 year old Sony KP61 series big screen and it looks great with the original tubes, hope yours goes just as long. Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (customelectronics.org)

It sounds to me like one of your color tubes went. If I had to guess I would say the red tube is shot. Its cheaper to buy a new tv almost. You can get a quote over the phone and compare the cost of repair to the cost of the tv.

Have you checked all of the resistors inthe convergence circuit as well? If not, check them for the correct impedance.. Remember, you have to pull one side of the resistor out of circuit to measure it correctly.
If all of the resistors are good, then you have to do a coarse convergence adjustment on the set through the service menu.. if you need the service manual for the convergence directions, I have one uploaded in the technicians corner of techlore.com
