Following the beginning of digital switchover, pressing the menu button only comes up with 'picture quality' and is unable to access 'installation'.

If your TV is not in Digital it won't give you the tuning option.
Select DTV from the on screen menu, (like scart 1 scart 2 etc). When you have found DTV select it and then press menu for tuning.
Hope that helps.

I have a lg w2234s monitor and the colour seems to have gone funny, it has a green shadow where black should be. Its not my video card because i have tried a diffrent monitor and it works fine

Sounds like the colour balance is out of adjustment. There maybe adjustment controls accessible through holes in the rear of the monitor, if not, new monitor time.

Dell m992 screen problems

If you notice, when you see the windows start screen, its usually "big and dopey". Thats because the video drivers aren't being used yet. If it is blanking out right after you see that screen (with the scrolling bar), my guess is it's a corrupt / bad video driver.

Was any other hardware added recently?

Severe gradient issues / problems with darker grays

So your sure when you go into the monitor settings, and color, it is set to like 9300k or something? It probably isn't the monitor, because the video games you said display just fine.
