Question about John Deere Garden

1 Answer

I have a L118 John Deere mower. When cold, the mower moves forward and reverse without problems. I mow my 1/2 acre yard and at the last couple passes, the mower barely moves forward and has no reverse. after a cooling down period, the mower drives normal in forward and reverse. This has happened the last two times I mowed. Is this a fluid level problem or worse? Can I fix it myself? The mower is only 4 years old and has not given me any problems until now.

Hi, remove the battery and battery support tray and clean all debris from around the hydrostatic drive, fan and cooling fins. Your problem is caused by the hydrostatic drive overheating. Hope this helps, regards Phil

John deere riding mower will not go forwards or backwards and was just mowing yard with it. it will start it will cut grass but will not move now help

If it is the belt driven version you should have a deck belt and a drive belt. The drive belt is under the engine. If you have the hydraulic version check for a broken linkage at the pump.

Mowing right along and suddenly the tractor won't go move

it's 1 of 5 likely things
The drive belt from the engine to the transaxle is totally slipping or broken
The linkage from the control pedal to the transaxle is faulty.
The transaxle is broken (not user fixable)
The by-pass rod is pulled out
The brake pedal is pushed or the linkage is stuck in the "brake" position.

there is a release usually behind the seat that has to be pulled in order to push it physically. make sure that the release is pushed in for the forward/reverse to work.
