The problem is going to be resister based on everything you described(thanks for telling us what you have done to determine the problem) this resister has no bearing on the timed dry,but is what allows the timer to advance on the auto dry cycle.

How do I use the sleep timer? when I push the sleep timer button it gives me on time and off time to set. I dont know how to use this. Cant I just set sleep timer for 30 minutes to turn off? Thank you.

Hello
Before going to set the timer, you have to set the current time. Set it according to the manual with you. If the timer function work properly, there must be an uninerrupted power supply also. If the power goes off, the set time will also get resetted, and improper function will occur.
After setting the present time, set the "on" time and "Off" time. The TV will switch on at that time you set, and will switch off automatically after the end time. OK.

The knob on the right just turns (no clicking) so it does not seem to be selecting a time. now dryer wont start.

Check your timer knob. On these GE dryers I have found a lot of times the knob cracks where the stem of the timer goes in and the resistance of the timer will make ti slip internally rather than turning the knob. If the knob appears to be ok, then I would say you definitely have a bad timer on your hands.
Timer is part number WE4M271 and runs around $100 from marcone's
Knob is
WE1M654 and is around 18$

Good ;uck with this!!

Quietseries 300 : Fills OK, timer functions OK, no water movement

Check the Lid switch. Most top load machines will not spin unless the lid is down and this is determined by the lid switch.

Dryer is not heating. the dryer timer goes all

HI, The timer control module is the culprit. This device controls the heating functions of your unit. You have indicated that the timer will not stop the unit, and it continues to run after the cycles intended stopping point. This will confirm that the timer is damaged, and it should be replaced asap, if possible.

NOTE:-( Just to be safe, check the thermal fuse as well. This is a emergency cut-off fuse that will blow if the element overheats your unit. it is located on the blower housing, or vent duct inside the unit. Test the fuse for continuity. If it is ok, replace the timer).

How to set the defrost timer on a KitchenAid Side-by-side frig?

It doesn't and shouldn't matter as all fridges with a mechanical defrost timer will run through a complete refridgeration and defrost cycle according to the manufacturer's factory design.

It doesn't have to correlate to your local time, since all defrost cycles for self-defrosting units operate based on the manufacturer's specs for how often the unit needs to go into a defrost cycle to prevent ice build up in the freezer.

Your fridge will adjust properly, once it gets cold enough and begins the specified operation and pre-determined cooling and defrost cycling.
