You may have 256 Mb or 512Mb of RAM installed in your computer. I recommend you install 1Gb of RAM in your computer. This will also make your computer faster.
Harddisk maintenance should be carried once a month. Thisremoves redundant and temporary files, recovers disk space and speed up harddisk access. Please click on this link and follow my instruction to free up disk space.

When you say you deleted them, did you also empty the recycle bin? If not, that would help a little bit as they aren't technically deleted until after you empty it. As for ram, you may need to upgrade and purchase more. Although if your computer has been running fine so far, I wouldn't really worry about it.

I received a toshiba update. I did a diagnostic check. It states hard drive fail. Sometimes my laptop fans make a noice. What can I do?

For starters you need to start backing up everything you want to keep. Photos, music, files, passwords, etc... Saving it all to an external hard drive is the simplest way to do this especially if you have a lot of stuff. You can also use thumb drives or burn it to DVD's if you want. Your computer is telling you that it's about to **** out on you. Once you get all your files backed up, you'll need a new (internal) hard drive for the computer. Once it's in, pop in your Windows install disc & follow the prompts. Keep in mind that you'll need to put in the windows disc before you shut the computer off to change the hard drive, this way after you've installed the hard drive and start back up, the windows installer will run.

How to Speed up a Slow Mac

Apple Mac computers can also become slow and sluggish with time and use. So here I will show you four methods to speed up your old-slow-mac.

Method 1: Free up hard drive space
You might have stored many huge video files, thousands of photos and music tracks on our Mac computer. The popularity of using solid-state drives (SSDs) of Mac computers means considerably less capacity than traditional hard drives.

1. Find the large media files on your Mac, delete the unused videos, apps, photos, etc. Or you can move all of them to an external hard drive, and remove them from your Mac.

2. Empty your trash cans, say the user account's main trash can and the iPhoto/iMovie/Mail trash can.

3. Remove junk files from your old Mac, MacClean is the way to go. It helps removing Internet junk, user junk, system junk and application junk on your hard drive.http://www.imobie.com/macclean/

Method 2. Free up more RAM

Most Macs ship with between 4GB and 16GB of RAM. If your Mac has only 4GB or 8GB RAM, the system might be running low when launching programs or loading document.
Step 1. Open up Terminal: ~/Applications/Utilities.
Step 2. Enter the command: Purge, and tap the enter tab.
Step 3. Give your Mac a minute or two to complete the process.
Open up Activity Monitor to see the before and after results, you'll find the Free size increases in System Memory.

Method 3. Kill Unwanted login items

Step 1. Open up System Preferences, and click the Users & Groups.
Step 2. Click the Login Items tab, and you'll see a list of apps that open every time you turn on Mac.
Step 3. Select the login items you want to kill, and click the "-" button to remove them.

Method 4. Clean up your desktop

1. Delete the files you don't need any more, and empty the Trash.
2. Classified the files on your mac, and move them to some folders.
3.Name the folder so that you can easily find the one you need. Why Is My Mac So Slow and How to Fix It

Slow processsing

Probably caused by Norton. Please get CClean, a free download, and clean your compluter. http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then defrag your drive.

These things will help a little.

Check what is running int he background and remove what ever you dont regularly use.

Hi, can someone pleae help me in formating my desk top. it is showing very slow performance. so i want to perform. what are the precautions that i should take before formating. what are there requirements...

Before you format the drive,

Are you using Norton if so dump it, but make sure that it is totally uninstalled by going into search and typing in Norton (Delete any remaining files showing Norton that come up)
Unplug the internet connectoion first

Then run Disc Cleanup then Defragmenter.
Go to Programs ,Accessories, System tools etc

Restore the internet

Go to www.filehippo.com and download Avast Anti Virus and Spy Bot , install updates and run them both.

If your machine is not running a lot quicker then go to www.belarc.com and download their Advisor program run that and it will give you a profile of your pc telling you what Ram is installed

For a reasonable performance under XP you need 2GB Vista take around 4GB

For a online check co to www.crucial.com and run their memory checker , it will tell you what memory is fitted and what upgrades are available

I believe I have a virus or worm that Norton cannot detect

Ok. How much space do you have free on your hard-drive right now? (I'm assuming that you know how to check this).

If its low, then maybe you didnt free up enough space on the drive. If it is high however, then answer this: is the message you are receiving telling you that you are low on disk space? or is it telling you that it is low on virtual memory space?

if its low on virtual memory, then the problem could be many including 1) virus etc 2) a program is running that is using up more RAM than is avaivable 3) you need more RAM on your system.

if its low disk space, then the problem could be 1) You need to free up more disk space (that may mean getting a bigger hard-drive installed)

Try using an updated virus scanning utility. If it says that you are virus free, then try one of the solutions above.

Prints photos with yellow horizontal stripes.Hv downloaded HP printing diagnostic utility and no errors were reported. If just using scanner to copy photos, prints fine but copying photos in library p

go into the printer and do a test print. start>printer & faxes>right click on the printer in question>properties>printer preference button> test print ... try the printer's own test print. This is usually caused by a poor print head, low ink, poor cartridge or the need for calibration. Look in the maintenance tab in the printer properties for head cleaner, jet cleaner etc. This also happens with refill ink cartridges.
