Yes, the reinstall will set it back to a factory state. After the install, you will need to go to Dell's support site and download any drivers that the install didn't cover. You can find the needed drivers in the device manager.

Recover deleted files from my laptop

Hello, Don't worry. You can rely on this photo recovery software (also recover audio and video files); it can help you recover your lost pictures from your Samsung Digital Camera (or SD card):
Photo Recovery for Windows Users
http://www.uflysoft.com/photo-recovery-win/
Photo Recovery for Mac Users
http://www.uflysoft.com/photo-recovery-mac/
By the way: Before your pictures are retrieved, do not save more files to the device (or memory card) in case the original files (your pictures) are overwritten.
Best wishes!

I want to recover my computer to factory settings

As soon as you press the power button on your notebook, Keep tapping F8 repeatedly. Another screen should pop up with a list of commands (safe mode / start up repair etc) Near the bottom of the list you should see an option to ReInstall windows / Reset to factory Default. Select which one you prefer and follow the simple instructions.

Hope this helps and please rate thanks.

I cannot find my XP disks and I am not sure my laptop came with installation disks. I want to reformat my laptop is there a way I can do that without the disks?

To reformat is to wipe everything off of your computer's harddrive. If you do not have the Recovery Disks, or an Installation Disk, you will be sitting there with a blank harddrive, and no operational computer.

I just wanted to explain that.

Most people want to restore their computer to what it was like from Day 1, when it came from the factory. For your Toshiba this is, "Recovering the original factory image"

Before you start, you may want to save any documents you have, in your My Documents folder. (My Pictures, My Music, My Video, Documents)
Burn your personal documents off to a CD, or DVD disk.
AFTER you restore back to the original factory image, they WON'T be there anymore.

Your Toshiba has a recovery partition on the harddrive.
Most computers do not have the Recovery Disks sent with them.
Saves the computer manufacturer money. They found that most users do not use the Recovery Disks, and would rather use a repair shop.

They also put the Recovery Partition on the harddrive. Plus the user is asked if they want to make a backup, (Recovery Disk), when they receive the laptop, and start it for the first time.
Problem is you are only asked once.

To recover back to the original factory image:
1.Laptop off. Press and hold down the 0 (Zero) key. Press the Power On button.

2.The Toshiba Recovery Wizard screen should appear.

3.Click on the empty circle to the left of -> Recovery of Factory Default Software.
(DO NOT click on Erase the Hard Disk!)
Click on Next

4.Click the circle for -> Recover to out-of-box-state
Click on Next

5.You'll see a warning message, "All data will be lost during the recovery process"

That's the data, (Information), you have in your My Documents folder, plus any programs you downloaded, or installed.
If they weren't there when the laptop came from the factory, they will be gone.
You know this, it's okay.

You are recovering, (Restoring), your laptop back to what it was like when it came from the factory.

Click on Next. This will start the recovery process. When it is finished a message will come up, and state that the HDD has been recovered. (HarDDrive)

Press on any key. You are finished.

I have a Dell and net adapters doesnt work

Uninstall and reinstall LAN drivers and Broadcom drivers.
Press Windows key and R key simultaneously to open Run Window.
Type "devmgmt.msc" and click on OK.
This will open Device Manager.
Click on "+" sign next to Network Adapters and right click on the network adapter and select Uninstall.
After uninstalling right click on Network Adapters and select scan for hardware changes.
This will reinstall the drivers.
Sometimes windows prompts you to restart the computer to reinstall the drivers automatically.
You can even reinstall the new LAN and Broadcom drivers from your Dell website provided they have new version of these drivers.
After reinstalling the drivers, check if the adapters work.
If the adapters still don't work, the issue could be with the hardware.
You may even try with recovering your PC using Dell Factory Recovery.
Before performing Recovery, take the backup of your hard disk as the Recovery process will restore your notebook completely to factory settings.

Okay, then you'll have to go to the second of my previously posted recovery tasks... For reference...

(b) For this one, you're going to need to move files. For that, you'll need a Windows CD. If you have an extra one around so you can boot to the Recovery Console, you'll be fine. Assuming you find one, then just follow the steps on this page --> Recovering HIVE Files. That will get Windows back to functional status, but you will have to reinstall your programs because even though they're there, you're recovering to a pristine version of that registry file that doesn't include any non-Windows software, so Windows can't use it.

Good luck, and post back with how it goes.

If your Dell was built after 6/04, you have a recovery partition. Press Ctrl+F11 on startup to restore the system to the way it was when delivered.

Running recovery reformats your harddrive to factory defaults and does wipe out all data. Any programs will have to be reinstalled and reactivated.

To get your data back you would need to import it from a backup or send it out to a company that specializes in recovering lost data... at a hefty price.

Sorry 'bout that.
