Question about PC Desktops

New ASUS PRO50Z laptop with Vista , trying to install new drivers for Canon PIXMA ip4500 printer. Have installed new drivers from Canon website, plugged in printer to USB port and turned on printer. Computer shows that installation was successful and printer makes appropriate noises to indicate it is working and computer knows it's connected. Tried to print test page but nothing happens. Error message says "An error has occurred when printing the following print job. Click Cancel to stop printing." Printer works on mate's Vista laptop and on my old XP laptop. Have now spent five days trying everything but cannot fix the problem. Please help.

Have loaded vista driver version 2.11 for canon ip4500 printer. Printer is disconnected when loading driver then turned on after it has loaded. Computer installs printer and indicates that installation is successful. USB001 shows that printer is allocated to it and printer makes appropriate noises until it has to actually print. Then it just sits there for a few minutes before the computer tells me that the print was not successful. I have followed all the threads to try and correct the problem including reloading vista again. No joy.

Try checking first if the printer is installed properly under device manager, because there's a possibility that its not working properly under device manager and may not be using the correct driver for it..

Good luck.........

Just a stab in the dark but, you should have the printer plugged in to your laptop and switched on before installing the software.
To be honest I am surprised you need drivers at all, Vista should have recognised the printer and installed the native drivers from it cab files. The only reason you need the correct drivers is to install the extra features from the manufacturer.
If I were you I would restore Vista to a time back before you tried to install the printer, (this will wipe out all the printer installation software), next I would do as I said earlier, plug the printer in and switch it on and let Vista recognize it and install it, then in Device manager do a driver update and direct Vista to where ever you have downloaded the divers to (copy them to a pen drive or something before doing the restore).

How to make printer canon mpc200 run in windows xp sp2 or vista

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=259&modelid=9283#DownloadDetailAct

I see what you mean...they do mention that the drivers will not work for Vista, however the don't say it will not work for XP (sp3)...
So try this.
Uninstall the printer drivers you have it there now.
Disconnect the printer from the computer.
Reinstall the new driver and don't connect the printer until instructed to do so.
Run the installation program and connect the printer and reboot.
It will help to install it this way.
good luck, please leave rating. thank you kindly

Hi trying to get new canon printer to work on this laptop. It indicates driver installed OK when plugged in by USB. But I can't then seem to locate the priner on the list or serch for it when trying to...

check to see if you see your printer in there anywhere
open word or note pad type a few words and then click print
see if that picks up printer

if nothing go to my computer c drive and then program files see if you see your printer anywhere in there

if not you may need to reinstall before reinstalling
you'll have to right click my computer properties then hardware then device find your printer driver in there there uninstall
some printers need to be plugged in to pc and turned on before you install
HOPE THIS HELPS

I have a new cannon printer, but lost the cd to install printer to my computer.

If you do not have the disk you download software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Canon Drivers and Software or Canon USA:DRIVER & DOWNLOADS

A web page will open, follow instructions, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
Afterdownloading, findthefile, doubleclick on the file, if you get introubles ,thenfollowinstructionsbelowto reset and reinstall:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website and run the file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note some printer does not work on Vista.

I have purchased a new computer with Vista Home Premium. It will not activate my disc for installing the X1195 printer I am trying to connect. It works happily on the older one.

i had the same problem on my laptop only with a dell printer. the printer worked great with my older computer that had windows xp. it could be the drivers for the printer are not compatiable with vista. try to find new drivers on the manufacturers website, thats what i would do.

so just go to the website of the printers manufacturers and look up ur model number and then try to find drivers for it.

Computer just quit reconizing my Canon Pixma IP 6600 Printer. Have tried new cable, reloading drivers, different USB Ports...Nothing seems to work

First impression is try to do an install on another computer.
uninstall unit from computer, delete completely all drivers and its printer software from computer. if VISTA OS make sure a VISTA driver is loaded for that unit.

if a fairly new unit, return too store, possible short.
